There were 26 teams in the nba then there's 30 now.4 less teams won't determine how 5 teams made the finals for a whole decade. The 80's is mad overrated there were 3-4 stacked teams and the rest were average to trash squads.Jordan led the bulls to the ecf his 5th year in the nba and lost in 6.Give him a stacked team and he woulda won just like magic, zeke and bird did.

You're overlooking the fact that for most of the 80's there were only 23 teams. Adding SEVEN new teams does change the league's talent distribution.

Bullshyt. The Pistons for the first time came in third place in the East the year the Bulls swept them, after winning the East for four straight seasons.. They were already on their way down.

:heh:

:what: If you're good enough to be one of the last 4 teams playing you're legit, the pistons beat the higher seeded celtics to get to the ecf.Lemme guess the lakers "were on their way down" too despite beating the defending west champs in the 91 wcf and going to the finals?

Jordan did not play in a great era of basketball. The early 90's was pure trash. From '88- '96 how many truly great players entered the league? The 90's were predicated on defense because there weren't that many skilled players, The Knickerbockers had only 3 legit NBA players on their roster Ewing, Oakley & Jackson. The Pacers had no superstar, no great players, no nothing. Reggie Miller wasn't great I don't give a fukk what nobody says.

1 through 5 Chicago always had the best players in atleast 3 of the 5 match ups.

Stopped reading right there. We can just agree to disagree.

I don't know how anyone who saw those HOF teams in the 80s and not feel that the teams MJ faced during his championship run fell short of them. I mean....the jazz teams the bulls faced twice in the ship couldn't see the championship in the 90s.

I agree with you about today...to me...this is the best the league has been since the 80s.
I was born in 82. I remember watching the Pistons win in 90 and the Bulls in 91. Thats where my memories of the NBA start. And it was great. I learned all about the game then. I've watched the game become so much different that its hardly comparable. The game has definitely become more of an individual game than before. But even the team aspect (Pacers baby!) is coming back, so I'm just soaking it all up and enjoying the sport, while trying my best not to over analyze it. There are too many variables between eras.

If you were good enough? Dog...they were on the decline period along with the Celtics. Their best days were past them, along with that "No longer showtime" Lakers team the Bulls met in the Finals.

No he did not. Dude had zero championship rings or playoff success in the '80's. He put up gaudy numbers due to his 25 spg and filled up highlight reels but he most certainly didn't dominate shyt.

:usure:That's like saying Kobe didn't dominate last year, because his team sucked.

In the 80s (1985-1989....5 years he played), he averaged 32.6 ppg, 6.2 rebs, 5.9 assts, 2.8 stls, 1.2 blks on 51.3% FG in the regular season and 35.6 ppg, 6.8 rebs, 6.6 assts, 2.4 stls, 1.1 blks on 50% FG in the playoffs.

He was a 5x All-Star, NBA MVP, NBA Defensive Player Of The Year, 4x All-NBA (3x 1st Team), 2x Defensive Team (Both 1st team), Finished in the top 2 of the MVP voting 3x out of the 5 years, led his team to the NBA playoffs all 5 years including an Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 1989:ufdup:

People like to bring up his losses but, using context, look at who he LOST to...some of the greatest teams of all time: The 1986 & 1987 Boston Celtics and the 1988 & 1989 "Bad Boys" Detroit Pistons.

Then the loss in the playoffs his rookie year against the Milwaukee Bucks was him as a rookie vs prime Terry Cummings/Sidney Moncrief/Paul Pressey with Ricky Pierce coming off the bench. That team won 59 games that year.and finished with the 3rd best record in the entire NBA that season behind only the Celtics & Lakers.

You're telling me that Jordan didnt dominate in the 80s because his team was losing against some of the greatest NBA teams ever assembled?:what:

He had no legit perimeter players his size to guard him :scusthov:

Outside of Clyde; Penny, and Reggie, most of the perimeter players in his era were bench warmers :scusthov:

He's still a hell of a player, but this is why Kobe is better. I'll admit that as a bron Stan. :manny:
