I think the era where Jordan dominated was slightly weaker than the era where he got his azz whooped thoroughly by great teams like the Celtics and Pistons. The era after it had better athletes but a softer game overall and an expanded league with drug and personality issues ruining some of the would-be greats. I would have LOVED to see MJ play in either the era RIGHT before or RIGHT after. Only Charles was really f*ckin wit him for one season during his prime and he took Chuck's heart out in that triple-OT victory. He was also better conditioned than Barkley. Fact.

2-Guard is also a historically weak position so it's tough. I take nothing away from MJ accomplishing what he did but, as a fan, would've liked to see him like 10 years later.

Why you think he was itching to come back so bad when T-Mac and Kobe were on the come-up? :ld:

Good Post...nikkas on here aint gon feel it tho

there are 103 former NBA players in the basketball HOF.

the NBA has been around for 67 years. If you took a random ten year splice of the NBA, there is a good chance you will have around 20 HOFers in the league. That includes today.

Stop psycing a period because you were alive to watch it. It is one of the things that annoys me about sports fans, and people in general. "IT was great back when I was a kid," no its about what its always been.

as evidenced by?

He made no All NBA teams, no All Defense teams. Didnt even get voted in for his second ASG during those two years. Where is the evidence that he was one of the better 2guards in the NBA at 39-40 other than your imagination?

and I know you simple doofuses will take this post as a MJ diss, it is not even close to that. I havent said anything about him or this thread.

So lets take players drafted from 98-07. That's a 10 year run. How many HOFers are in that group? Pierce, Dirk, Lebron, Wade, maybe Melo, maybe Vince? Yup, you lost that point already.

You can say that other SGs weren't as revered, but these people were still putting up 18+ppg and NOT even making all-star teams. But if that's the case, Wade has really had no comp at SG as well. The only one that really had elite peers at SG was Kobe, so we're still looking at the past. 90s were the best era, which is why people that grew up with 70s and 80s basketball STILL say Jordan is the greatest. They will say Kareem, you may get arguments for Wilt and Moses, then they will say Dream, Ewing, D Robinson, Shaq. It's better because it was better quality, more competition.

Some of you kids need a history lesson.

its true...there were lots of great players, but there really werent any stacked teams, other than the bulls. knicks ? LOL. ewing and role players
pacers ? no superstars. reggie was never a real big time scorer. orlando magic had the talent, but were extremely immature and poorly coached.
jazz had talent, but were far too small in the back court to pose a real threat. it just seemed like no team had any big athletic guards to combat jordan and pippen. other teams talents in front court was never enough to overcome with the way they swarmed on defense, plus having one of best low post defenders ever in rodman during the second 3 peat.

it wouldve been nice to see the rockets vs bulls though. olajuwon would have feasted, and horry was kind of an athletic stretch 4 before there were stretch 4s.

He had no legit perimeter players his size to guard him :scusthov:

Outside of Clyde; Penny, and Reggie, most of the perimeter players in his era were bench warmers :scusthov:

He's still a hell of a player, but this is why Kobe is better. I'll admit that as a bron Stan. :manny:

SMACK! who is this nikka??? :stopitslime:

ahhh, so the next tactic is to change your argument :ohhh:

In one post he played 20+ HOFers, next its "20+ HOFers were drafted"

From 1984-93, I counted 18 HOFers or future HOFers as NBA players (even included guys like Webber)

From 98-2007, I counted 17 HOFers who entered the NBA. (didnt include guys like Rondo or Aldridge in that)

Like I said breh, its very much the same today as you were a kid, as it was when your daddy was a kid. And that was not a Jordan diss at all. I didnt make a single comment about him being the best player or not being the best.

This was the one big issue I had with the Jordan era. Yes there were plenty of great players but due to the rapid expansion around that time the talent was spread thin. Jordan happened to be one of the true superstars who got to play with another superstar. Ewing, Olajuwon, Robinson (until he got Duncan), Barkley (minus a two year stretch in Phoenix with KJ healthy), Drexler, and Wilkins all played with nothing but role players. The Malone and Stockton pairing is probably the only other grouping of stars that played together for an extended time. Meanwhile Jordan was able to play with Pippen and also had a top notch role player in Grant or Rodman that was better than a lot of other stars second option.

I've always felt that the year that Jordan left and the Bulls only lost like 5 more games after replacing him with Pete Myers and Kukoc should've been held against Jordan a lot more to show how solid the team around JOrdan was.
