Let’s be real, Beyonces albums are overrated and that’s why she doesn’t win AOTY

I feel she has hits. I think she did great with her group.

Are Destiny's Child albums better than Beyonce solo albums? What's the consensus on that?

It’s crazy that this is a conversation when Kendrick Lamar who is the greatest creative mind in pop music today still doesnt have one of these and we talking about a Beyonce album

Or the fact that before Kendrick Kanye had it on LOCK (before he went nuts) and neither Late Registration or Dark Fantasy won. But we talking about a Beyonce album

Nah, I don't buy that bullshyt. The entire reason this thread exists is because Beyonce didn't win AOTY. Literally, that's it. Now nikkas tryna say, well the reason she has never won it is because she's trash.

Ok but then you'd have to make that same argument for the countless black female artists going back multiple decades that also never won. And we not doin that nonsense
No, you wouldn’t. People have wanted to see black women win AOTY long before beyonce existed, and there are other artists people wanted to see win but who had zero shot since they’re not media darlings. There are plenty of people who feel beyonces albums are not good compared to her potential, thinking they aren’t AOTY material doesn’t mean they think every other black female artist doesn’t have AOTY material. The hell

I’ve never heard a Harry styles song in my life, so I don’t know :manny:

But Lizzo and MJB were also nominated, as was Kendrick - according to you, it’s only a problem Beyoncé didn’t win, not any of the other black women or artists nominated? Got it

India Arie released an album better than any Beyonce has ever released and she never won it, hell i'd put Songs in A Minor over every Beyonce album also.

No I'm saying that the AOTY award doesn't necessarily correlate to artistic merit.

And if we know that, then ask yourself why this thread even exists.

You don't realise it but you're agreeing with me.

Exactly so now we know that AOTY isn't based on anything other than whatever a few cacs up there like.

I know it doesn’t relate to artistic merit, it’s nebulous as to who wins, but people get upset she didn’t win on the basis of “she had the best album” when 1) clearly others don’t feel that way 2) even if she did, it doesn’t matter, someone else released something that more voters voted for

Nah it’s racially motivated. White ppl can’t stand to see a confident, successful black artist, ESPECIALLY one who takes a stand against police brutality. They always tryna marginalize successful black artists.

If Beyoncé “has too much already”, why bother giving her 4 more Grammy’s including the Dance/Electronic album award that helped her break the all-time record?
Ask the yt who said out their mouth she always wins.
This last album was very forgettable and people have been forcing themselves to like Beyoncé’s music since anything after Lemonade.
Ppl are forcing themselves to like the album yet it ended up with 2 top 10s without any promo, performance or visuals from Beyoncé. Cuff It is still in the top 20 as we speak. Like there are album cuts from Renaissance that are Gold. Cut the shyt.
Beyoncé, her father and the people backing them are some of the biggest gangstas in the industry when you go back to her trajectory from day 1.
Are you implying that Mathew Knowles is a "gangsta"??? This is hilarious fanfiction.
Do you know Beyoncé has a writing and production credit on damn near every song she’s ever been on? Do you really believe she’s helped write and produce all of those songs?
Beyoncé has been producing and arranging vocals since DC days. She spoke early on about how she helped write and arrange on the very first DC album and didn't realize she deserved credit for that. She made sure it didn't happen again and I don't blame her.
How she and her father practically banished multiple artists over the years to make room for Beyoncé - from Destiny’s Child members to Amerie to Keri Hilson to copying J. Lo’s fashion style dating back to the 2000s to watching her sister do her dirty work in the elevator.
Banished Destiny's Child members yet all but 2 remained successful in their own right with good music(that y'all care nothing about unless Bey's named is attached). Amerie is hilarious in hindsight because her fukking a Sony Exec(and later marrying him)and having a hit song couldn't help her sell albums for shyt. Keri continued to be successful despite dissing both Ciara and Beyoncé for no reason but her attitude issues did her no favors. J.Lo I won't even dignify with a comment as much as her team(including Tommy Motorola himself) was snatching songs and shyt from other female artists INCLUDING Mariah Carey. Please.
I’d bet there are plenty of strong arm / shady stories about Beyoncé around the industry that might be told way down the line or never at all.

She’s an all-time overall talent for her work ethic alone, no doubt…but at some point people will be honest about her body of work.

You want there to be shady stories because you don't like her. Dislike her but stop the fanfiction to cover up for your 90s or 00s fave not being relevant at this time. Support their shows and new work instead of complaining about Beyoncé and the love she gets from her fans who ACTUALLY buy tickets and ACTUALLY still care to hear new music.

For me, she just makes hollow music. Well, i can't say hollow, but it just doesn't elicit emotional responses from me, and that's how I like my R&B. I like music that embodies that soulful feeling. Even if it's more uptempo R&B, it still has to have that flavor for me. She has always sounded bland to me. And her music isn't for everyone. With that said, she's still talented, and her ability to constantly maintain that sense of importance and dominance to her fans is one that hasn't been seen in a while.

As for album of the year, I've always thought that album of the year had to be something that speaks to everyone. At least in the past, that's what it has been.
