The "give it time" argument works if they all play different positions and need to gel.
This is three ball dominant perimeter players who's styles do not mesh together in any way. Melo is not going to change who he is, PG can't play with them, and West sure as shyt can't make it work when he's gotta split the ball so much.

I was hoping that it would work, even extending the benefit of the doubt more than I typically do. I hope that they can still put it together, because I wanna see some competitive playoff series', but it's not looking good.
In the end, this season will practically be chalked up to a year off on Westbrook’s body because his style has been forced to change. It’s a waste.

There are glaring flaws with this squad, and unless Westbrook and Melo take on new player identities, it's unlikely that those flaws will go away.
