Let's be real: This Melo/OKC Experiment ain't Working

You can tell a lot of people in here ain’t watching the games just box scores.

I've been saying this for a while now. That is the problem with basketball talk on this site. Lotta these dudes draw their opinions from just looking at the box score or hearing what the talking heads on ESPN are saying.

If you actually watch the games, you'll see there is nothing wrong with OKC and Melo. They are just not shooting the ball well right now. That will come. However, they have been amazing on defense. Which is something that will always be there even if your shooting isn't there.

As long as the Thunder keep playing the elite defense they've been playing thus far, they'll find a rhyytm offensively and start winning a lot of games in a row.

OKC is fine.

Not even remotely close to being the same thing. Not even close. I'm all for letting new teams establish themselves (I was high on this team before the season started, and still hope they put it together), but the flaws are ALARMING, to say the very least.

The games I saw the ball was moving. My issue is the defense. Good luck getting anyone to stop ball at the top of the key during a fast break or play sound help defense. That's how I knew they would lose that C's game with all those blown assignments in the 3rd Russ has to commit that athleticism on D

It's not that the shot is broke...his shot selection is dog shyt. He shoots like he's Steph and that's the problem. He's a damn good midrange guy but he insists on taking bad 3s without his feet set

I agree that his midrange pull-up is good. But if he played for a midrange shot the defense would just back off of him. He shoots the three to keep defenses honest, but he just falls in love with that pull-up three...and it makes him look like a bum.

One 3PT make and he would have everything he needs to operate for an entire quarter. Bruh just needs to assist. If he does that he'll just stumble onto points.

so @Swagnificent says he watches the games and claims they have elite defense while @thedevilyouknow says he watches the games as well and the defense is the issue

They're the worst passing team in the league (ranked dead last in passes made), because Russ has such a stranglehold on the team's possessions.

They're the second-best defensive team this season. I think you might need to adjust your eye-test after reading these takes. Yes, you're correct that Russ' bad habits on defense are most certainly an issue, but their team defense is the least of their worries - they have two strong/elite perimeter defenders who can guard 1-4, and one of the better defensive bigs.

The celtics are over hyped right now......doing well while other teams are trying to figure themselves out.....not saying they gonna fall off greatly....but they won't be as successful as they are now end of season. Lot of early season hype goin on.

Their bench lacks shooting. Westbrook or George have to be on the court at all times. Melo can’t log that kind of PT without resting the 2nd half of the season. Team has zero balance.
