To me feminism is a more egalitarian society. Women should be able to hold careers and high profile jobs despite being women. Women should also be allowed to stay at home and be housewives if they want. By the same token, men should be able to work careers and earn the bread for the house, but I think they too reserve the right to stay at home and help with the house and family. I find this should be beneficial to both parties. Women should be taken seriously. We are half the population. I do not espouse that women are superior - because we are not. We are all people, and everyone should be treated as such, including women.

Throughout this site, we see a lot of opinions "males do this" females do this" and it's very dividing. Rather than finding common ground and bridging barriers to help each other out, it creates a surge of fighting, as if men are scared of taking women seriously and put us at the same table as you guys, as if you KNOW men have done women wrong. And that's wrong, so I try to fight and speak up as much as I can have my voice heard. If that labels me as being a bytch or a "c*nt" so be it. I have a lot to fight for and much to gain.

One love.
That's what they don't want to hear. Women complain because they are not heard.

5 pages in, and I'm still not exactly clear on Black Feminism. :ld:

That's because the premise of the thread is flawed. Feminism is feminism. It has no color. I identify as a feminist, not a black feminist. All women of all races go through hard time and bad shyt and they all deserve to be represented. My philosophy will still be represented when I adress the black community, and it has been.

You need to go back and re-read the thread. I was not the person who used the word empowerment first. My post was a reply to someone who used the word. Furthermore, I was using the word to make the same argument you just made, so you need to take up your issues with him or just fukk off, really because you're barking up the wrong tree.:manny:

She (he?) stupid. don't bother

The divide exist already... Black men for themselves and black women for themselves. I don't know why you are blaming feminism for that. Black feminism is highlighting what already exist.
Take notes people^^^^this the black feminist. Whenever you see one of these birds trying to deny that black feminism is a divisive ideology that opposes black unity while attempting to separate black women from black men, remember comments like this.

There are differences between men and women so there's always going to be some divide between the sexes. That doesn't mean that there can't be or shouldn't be unity between black men and women. The things that black men and women have in common infinitely outweigh our differences. We face the same oppression courtesy of the same system of injustice. Black feminism exploits the differences to keep us divided which only perpetuates the system of injustice oppressing us. You should aim to close the divide between black men and women not widen it. You're completely lost.

: shaq2:You're probably not even a black woman. Feminism is not feminism. White feminists have always been racist and have always looked at or treated black women as their equals. Racism>sexism and here's proof. White women are privileged over black men.

On a side note, whoever moved the thread is a bytch and half:pacspit:

Don't taint me bro. My sisters are still priority number 1.
Why not black people be priority number 1?

Are your brothas priority number 2? Are they even a priority at all to you?

Elaborate please

You misinterpreted my post. When I said that the division exist anf feminism highlights to injustice of black women within the black community. I am not supporting disunity but I am saying that feminism exist because black women have sex and race working against them

Outside of domestic violence, I don't buy this.

More jobs, better educated, longer life expectancies :shaq2:

Black men have sex and race working against them too. The myth that black women some how have it worse than black men is a joke. As if all black men treat black women like shyt while black women treat black men perfectly. Both sexes have legitimate gripes with the other. The only way to resolve those issues is to work together.

sounds good in theory but in practice women wont respect a "Stay at home dad"

and how do you legislate your way into being taken seriously? how does black feminism try to resolve this?
