the prison i work at is considered special needs, its where people check in. and yes both the officers and the inmates deserve better. the conditions we work in are horribly unsafe and it doesnt matter because people don't have to deal with them and its a revolving door system as far as employment, the inmates do deserve better and they know this as well. but as far as rehabilitation, you can't force someone to get better. alot of these dudes don't want to get better because they don't want to be shipped to other prisons

True, you can't force someone to get better. However, it's a pipeline that causes that thinking to happen. The prisoners know it will be hard for them to seek employment after serving their sentence. Just look at Norway, their repeat offenders is just 20%. For us, it's over 76% and it's sad. I feel bad that you and other C.O.'s have to work in unsafe environments.

Can you share a little about the Muslims? Demographics? Do they get into trouble? Do they have beef with other groups? How do they get along together as a group? Do they get Halal food?

the muslims slick run the prisons no lie. long as you up on your din, you good. they on you tough though. they do things discretely and cause very few trouble because they hold themselves to a higher standard. you have to petition for a specific diet tray so that there is no pork. but even if the diet isn't approved, if there's pork i take it off out of respect. i try to let them go to rec together and when they have prayer i respect their privacy. its a lot more white guys that are muslims in prison than you would think. as far as beef goes, usually the old heads try and squash it, they are real diplomatic, but if someone wilds out they get punished. hell if you muslim and you disrespect a co they handle it within themselves.

I wonder what those loner types are like. Not the crazy or mentally insane ones but the normal prisoners. I'd be the type to keep to myself and not get involved in anything just to avoid problems. Just do my two days, day I go in and day i come out. Not try to join any gangs yet I'll be respectful towards everyone. Is there guys like that in there? Living in a heavily mixed area, I can't imagine just being with other Hispanics. I'd be cordial towards everyone long as they show respect back. Like the lone wolf type. Keep to myself, work out, read books, etc.

People say Fed time is easy. That depends on how you look at it tho . If your more concerned with safety and you know you will be food , yea Feds is easier in that regard. But to me the time is what matters. Fed time you doin the whole bid, ain't no getting out early for good behavior, for the most part

yea they mostly sleep and read all day. take showers either before or after everyone else. they try and keep interaction to a minimum. i guess like a prison introvert

When i worked at a prison it wasn't rape, it was consensual. Men and guards, if you was fukkin it was by choice by a long shot.
