of course they do, its lovies first year. go look at beli's record in cleveland. or bill walsh first season in SF. or parcells first season with giants. and thats no-doubt HoF coaches.
with that said, I wouldnt say lovie is a 'great' coach, but he knew his shyt on defense.

Lovie runs a cover 2 scheme, that shyt doesn't work anymore. Teams are going vertically and that little sweet spot between the cb flat and fs/ss deep have is getting chewed up by NFL teams.
Its WAY to easy to beat with 3+ wr formation

tampa 2 isnt outdated, it just needs good personnel and a lot of understanding between lbs, corners and safeties. you have dudes who cant really play zone in goldson, etc in tampa.
just like with any other scheme, disguising it does wonders (ie no pure tampa 2 100% of the time...dont make it your base)
a ton of teams play tampa 2 as a change of pace or even the dominating scheme, they just mix in other type of coverages to keep offenses honest.

You have a dominate 3 tech in McCoy and a Derrick Brooks clone in Lavonte David. Rest of the Bucs is pretty solid too

The fact they are getting the breaks beaten off consistently shows he isn't even making them competitive.
actually they've been competitive in every game but 2. And by competitive in those 6 losses they only lost one by more than 6 points and that was the 10 point loss to ATL and they even went to OT twice. Now granted the competition in those games has been relatively wek

Bears on some Goldilocks shyt. One coach had a good D but no offense, the other coach has good offense (supposedly) but no defense lol.
