I've had this argument for many years already, you will never be able to convince those full of nostalgia.

The N64 was the start of Nintendo's slow downward slip and a console with abysmal 3rd party support. It had about 10 must have games which cannot be disputed, but outside of that? :silvugh:
Put it this way, n64 had mario 64 and Zelda OOT and that's just about it. You rarely hear anyone clamoring to play any classic games on the n64 because there really aren't any.

Here is how I argue the N64 with people, its basically the same philosophy I try to apply when it comes to console debates.

The N64 had what I would call 20 undeniable classics, but more than likely gamers are not going to thoroughly enjoy all 20 of them...it's probably in the neighborhood of 10. I can name 12 N64 games that are undeniably classic and one I enjoyed:

Mario 64
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Paper Mario
2 Banjo Games
WCW/nWo Revenge
DK 64
Diddy Kong Racing (enjoyed this more than Mario Kart TBH)

There are other games that can squeeze into the personal classics category and that is obviously dependent on the player. IMO, WCW/nWo Revenge is an undeniable classic, but the gamers and critics generally feel that WWF No Mercy was better. Personal connection has a lot to do with it.

Ironically, I think it's Nintendo's strongest console since 1996...it just started that downward slope in where EA and the other 3rd parties didn't really pay much attention to them. This was mostly due to their idiotic decision to go with cartridges which almost negated the hardware advantage that Nintendo had with the N64 over the Saturn and PSOne.

IMO, There is no way the N64 is a top 5 console...hell it's hardly a top 10 console tbh.

Snes
Ps2
Xbox 360

Neo geo.

Ps4 has a chance to enter that top 5 with a strong 2016.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
You guys are rating n64 too high. It was a good system but I think the game library was underwhelming
it was, no beat em ups, shytty controller etc.. etc..

Goldeneye was it's saving grace

3d gaming, the rumble pack, 4 controller ports, FPS on consoles, the joystick, nintendo franchises...

come on now

SNES should be every gamers number 1.

The way it crushed buildings with Street Fighter and 6 button pad.
:banderas:

Used to laugh at my friends who had a Mega Drive and tried playing Street Fighter with 3 buttons

Library was not as expansive as PS1 but i would argue it's top 10 games would easily shyt on any other console.

System had great games and multi platforms were always better on n64.
