Leave Chicago at 5pm 8 hour flight

get to England at 1am (CDT)/7am (GMT)

leave at 7am (GMT) / 1am (CDT)

get back at 3pm (GMT)/9am (CDT)

I think :skip:

That's the crux of the question breh. Theoretically if you are using GMT if you go back and forth then the end time should be the same as the starting time. What you're missing however is that time is directly proportional to distance traveled, famously expression via the Newtonian derivative distance = velocity x time ( d = v*t). so if we are withholding acceleration from the equation then if you have travel doubled the distance it has taken you double the time. So there's no way it can be 12 in reality, however logically it would follow that if I was in a GMT - 6, I traveled to a GMT -0 zone, then went back directly to a GMT - 6 zone, according to the GMT system the time should be the same as the time I started, because you reversed course. The crux of the issue is that time zones have nothing to do with distance traveled, one is merely a designation, the other is a matter of physics. :obama:

You excluded the time it takes to get to the location. Unless you travel instantly...you would never arrive back at the same time.

10pm, right?

Then why not just say you left chicago at 5 pm you spergy retard? Trying to sound intelligent when you're borderline mentally handicapped.
Question is weird but the time in Chicago was already set to 12 noon. Honestly, going off of what was given, time zones don't matter and the time in England does not matter. 5 hours to travel to England and taking the route you took to get there, 5 hours back to Chicago.

edit: Time zone doesn't matter.

Where are they on daylight savings time as the dates don't completely overlap? How many hours of travel should we assume each way? Shouldn't you be out engineering spaceships, curing mystifying diseases or coding groundbreaking software? We mustn't waste your incredible intellectual horsepower on monitoring Coli threads. Go do genius stuff, we'll let you know how it goes here.

You are arguing semantics now. Whether or not time is excluded or included the crux of the issue is that GMT is merely a designation and has no real relevance to physics and the time-space continuum, that's the point. :obama:

Just cause your going forward in time doesnt mean time stops from where you departed.

look up the definition of opinion and don't respond to me again since you seem to be slow. any law or thing made up by man is an opinion. it is a group of people saying 'i THINK this is a good way of doing things. that is what an opinion is. doesn't matter if you call it a law or a rule. in fact, you get ignored too dumbass.

Does being ignored mean I don't have to see your dumbass emotional posts anymore? :whew:
This nikka really over here saying the rules of a language are an opinion because they were created by man at some point :merchant:
In other words there are literally no facts in the history of mankind because the conclusions were generated by human reason. Or as he'd word it "someone thinks that's how it should be" :scust:
Yea corkie, that's bout the dumbest logic I've heard in a minute

First you have to clarify what you mean by going "forward in time 5 hours".

Wait 5 hours?

Travel east to a time zone 5 hours ahead?

Time travel?

And without mentioning travel times, this question makes no sense.

flight from chicago to london is 8 hours. so it takes 16 to fly to london and come back.

so it's 4 am the next day you arrive in chicago again.
