Looking back at that 04-05 Sun's squad, Nash was most definitely the engine that made that team go. They were stacked w/ young talent, but were awful the year before, so he likely got the MVP for leading a tremendous turnaround. Led the league with 11.5 assists, averaged 15.5ppg, 3.3rpg, shot 88% from the FT line, and 50% from the field. Those are on par & perhaps slighty better (overall) numbers than John Stockton at his best.
05-06 - Led the league again with 10.5 assists, averaged 18.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, shot 92% from the line, and 51% from the field. Better overall numbers than the first MVP season, IMO.
I know Shaq still feels he deserves the MVP award for 04-05, and some fans think Nash only won b/c of the obvious
I personally think Kobe should've won for 05-06, young Bean put up 35.4ppg
while shooting 45% from the field, 4.5 assist, 5.3 rpg. Perhaps Kobe's finest work & was never acknowledged
What say you: One, both, or neither?
There's a poll, but explain your choice.
