So I finally downloaded FFVI for my iPad. It was my third time trying to play the game without giving up in the first hour. It got more enjoyable, but unfortunately, I don't get why it is ranked better than 7. Unfortunately, my ipad was stolen yesterday and I couldn't finish the story. I got to the part where the world was destroyed and you got the new airship. I read the rest of the story. Not that impressed.

I hear people constantly talk about how VII is overrated but I have yet to play one that's better. I consider Chrono Trigger to be on par with 7 and better than 6. Not to mention, I played CT after I played VII. From the music, to the atmosphere, I find the tone of VII to be more captivating than 6. Kefka was that dude but more often than not VI feels like a mess at times.

I think VII alone (barely considering Crisis Core) had much more depth with Zack and even the backstories of Vincent, Cid and the secondary characters. I also think the characters were more likable.

So someone break it down on why so many people consider VI the best.

I feel ya OP.

I played chrono trigger on the SNES when it came out, and I loved it as a 7th grader. Then I rented FF6 to see if I would like it because loved chroni trigger. I hated ff6. I felt it was a huge step backwards. Compared to Chrono trigger, the graphics sucked, the characters sucked, the music sucked, and combat system sucked (I never played random encounters before).

I got ff7 when it dropped and it was good but not as good as chrono trigger.

I played chrono trigger when I was in seventh grade, then in high school (ps1), then in college (emulator), then afterwards( Nintendo ds), then as a working adult (iPhone). It's never gotten old, and it always feel fresh.

When my two sons get old enough, I want them to experience it too.

If you didn't make it to the point where you can use espers/magicite or get to the 2nd half of the game, you have NO IDEA how good FFVI is. The game becomes an entirely different game in the second half of it

edit: After reading your second post I realized you made it that far. And to that I just say :snoop:

The second half of FFVI is probably the best RPG ever made, alongside CT and Earthbound

it was better grapically(better models in battle and out of battle and better pre rendered backgrounds/environments) :umad:

the combat was better (addition combos > ff7 battle system) :umad:

both had some dumbass stories :manny:

Lavitz dying > aerith dying :timmyumadbreh: at least he went out on some g shyt

Dragoon Transformation > ff7 summons (cheese the game with Knights of the round and some mimic materia brehs) :paperumad:

LoD is a classic.
I made it to the final fight but never beat it before my 4th disc cracked during a move.
Didn't have a PS3 but If they make the PS1 available on PSN for the quad, I'm grabbing it ASAP.
Lavitz death was :wow:
Transforming for the first time against the Giant character (can't remember his name)
Fight system was fun as hell, too.
Dart was out here low key simping on Shana but it is what it is.
He got the W in the end.
:mjpls: :manny:

The real question is why neither FF6 or FF7 were better than their peer RPGS in that time period?

Secret of mana, chrono trigger, zelda> FF6

Legend of the Dragoon > FF7

Get the fukk out of here. :camby:

Secret of Mana ain't better either. fukk wrong wit you :beli:

Chrono Trigger you can pick over FFVI and I won't be mad at you. Never really played Legend of Dragoon but it was on my bucket list for awhile along with Xenogears

I respect your posting so, I'll give you zelda, but nikka please :stopitslime:secret of mana is way more enjoyable than FF6.

On another note...if you enjoyed Ff7, you'll definitely enjoy Legend of the Dragoon.

Of all versions, you chose the WOAT port. :camby:
I read it was bad but I only care about gameplay and story. I already tried it several times before with emulators but it couldn't keep my interest in the beginning
