Charles is not in the same stratosphere with Lebron when it comes to Defense. Even Charles admits he never played defense. Here's MJ and JT laughing about it...

Dr Jack Ramsey on Barkley's defense,

"...But Charles didn't see the importance of defense unless it was required at the very end of a game. When I was working television games for the Sixers, Charles was their main gun. I gave him full credit for his incredible exploits on offense, but I also noted when he was slow getting back on defense, not playing his man, or failing to give needed weak-side help.

"Charles, I can only say what I see. When you do good things on offense, I say it, but when you loaf on defense, I say that, too." The other players all grinned at me and nodded in agreement. But Charles dismissed the subject, saying, "I can't play defense and score and rebound too."

Charles had his own mind-set about how he should play, and none of his coaches could ever alter it with any consistency. He seemed to feel that since he gave his full effort to offense -and indeed performed wonderful feats there - he shouldn't be required to work as hard on defense. And it wasn't because he lacked defensive skills.

I had seen him force Magic Johnson into a poor percentage shot on a last possession in a Sixers-Lakers game that Philly won. He also had a knack for stealing the ball from high-post players that resulted in open-court layups. But overall, Charles seemed to regard defense as the time during which he could catch his breath, not pressure his man, and nobody could change his mind about that.

It was unfortunate because he became a weak spot in his team's defense that opponents didn't hesitate to exploit."

He went up against Jordan once.:russ: What happened the other 15 times?
Why do y'all act like basketball is boxing or tennis?:gucci: Barkley spent years in Philly. You think His team was on the level of the Celtics, Pistons and Bulls in the 80's and early 90's. :dwillhuh:His best chance at a title was probably 93-95 and he had Jordan and Hakeem in his way.

Maybe two times.

Y'all talk about this like MJ was knocking Barkley out every season, like Jordan held Barkley back from winning very season and shyt. Why didn't Barkley go to the Finals in some of those other years?

Mike Gminski, an underachieving Hershey Hawkins, Maurice Cheeks dead body, and Andrew Tony with no feet,

B B But he had Scott Brooks for a few years tho......... :mjlol:

No doubt barkley is a mumbling idiot, straight up c00n who says dumb shyt but can't deny his basketball career.

Barkley was the original "freak of nature" athlete, super fast, powerful, quick first step, can shoot, can power you inside. Out score you and out rebound you. His athleticism is up to par with Lebron.

:gucci:

nikka, you lost your fukking mind. Lebron is faster, bigger, stronger, more agile, more durable, has better balance, and jumps higher while being much taller too,

Chick can SHOOT now? The 26% career 3P shooter?

His new generation is crazy man he was Lebron before Lebron

:gucci:

Barkley doesn't play like Lebron at all. Barkley is a face up 4 that likes to operate out of the high post and use the threat of his midrange to get to the lane.

He's also nowhere near as good a shooter as Lebron. The worst 3P shooting season for Lebron is better than what Barkley averaged over a career.

Lebron's WORST playmaking season (His rookie season) is better than Barkley's best season. Barkley never ran an offense as good as Lebron. He was asked to score and play off-ball to get into his positions where he could work or get good positioning downlow to hustle. He pushed the ball too because he was a good ball handler.

Exactly, that's what I always say, they are very simlilar

- Can play and defend the 1, 2, 3, and 4
- Can run the full length of the floor
- Can rebound, pass, and a good playmaker
- Gets most of their points driving the paint using their strength and power

:gucci:

Barkley can defend the what? Play the what? Did you WATCH Barkley?

Barkley isn't even in the same stratosphere as Lebron as a playmaker/passer/ball-handler.

Saying Barkley is similar to Lebron is like saying Derozan is similar to Jordan because they operate out the midrange, they can defend the 1-3, get most of their points slashing and mid-range, and they both pass when needed.
