This really is ARP's big chance if that RBE event is successful. Not even Smack fault that the event was a dud but these battles makin his whole organisation look funny in the light.

I doubt it :manny: nikkas said the same thing about High Stakes 1 and Oxxy v Diz :mjlol:

If SM8 turns out to be fire, or if URL's next event turns out to be fire it'll be business as usual

Smack managed to string y’all along this long?

I used to be really into URL (first big battle I caught was K-Shine vs Surf) but let’s be real here brehs

The apex of this shyt was the masterful performance or Lux and Jay tweeting that shyt.

Sure there have been hyped up battles and good battles BUT the ratio between amount of events/amount of battlers and great battle is low af.

-a lot has been said and done already and gets regurgitated endlessly (maybe Hitman can do another little brother scheme? Has Clipse gone into the basement yet?) and the new cats who come with something new get pushed to the top way too fast
-too many events (these stupid quiet room events where the mic can only catch it when the rapper faces the camera)
-too many battlers and many new ones coming in with this huge buzz that ultimately fades out and doesn’t translate when it really matters
-URL going BET, Wildin Out got dudes less hungry
-Retarded requests for fees that make 0 business stand
-PPV streams that don’t work
-F-ck this cigar kid

I have seen some dope battles, I think Tay Roc usually delivers, I’ve seen T-Rex go nuts (eg vs JC) and some others are dope, but overall URL is just not that dope anymore.

Sure a few years back Daylyt created a big buzz with his antics and some female battles were dope - but overall it’s more ‘meh’ than ‘damn!’. It’s not a SM7 issue - the dudes on there most are supposed to be the OGs but their heads are too big and they a) don’t seem to really care b) probably don’t get paid enough 10 years in

SM8 probably will be more of this. At one point it’s just Smack lining his pockets
Jay Black practically runs URL now, at least from a marketing and promotion standpoint.

One event isn’t enough to hang with the URL.

Listen, I’m sure leagues like KOTD and RBE have mixed feelings about this. They probably enjoy and despise what happened all at the same time. This can easily happen to them. I don’t think ARP is comfortable at all right now.

However, when you look at the RBE card, none of the guys really choke with the exception of Big T & Verb. The event is probably “okay” there as far as clean performances. You just never know though. By default, it should be better than SM7.

URL has a whole roster of people signed to them that we would even know existed last night.

No reason why somebody like Jerry Wess doesn't get a shot here. Actually there is one reason, URL booked too many battles for this one.

C'mon now. Let's be honest, URL learned after Summer Madness 3, that you need to have big names for Summer Madness' or the fans will complain (they would have been trashed for having Jerry Wess there). They just learned another lesson this time, that in the PPV era they gotta book people they know will perform. Biggest Event of the year, you would assume that the rappers would have their very, very best performances.

Man. I remember when battle rap was that shyt.

Summer madness with the intros, walking to the ring like a boxing match. That surf/shine shyt.... all those battles around that time. Now the battler names are extra lame and everyone wants to choke. I honestly haven’t wanted to watch a battle in a few years, I mostly come on here to see y’all talk shyt.

Sorry to those that wasted money on this shyt.

Sounds like y’all east coast saviors fukked everything up  only big name who came to play from St Louis  all that Twork hype I read in his battle vs Verb (after that battle I knew he was ASS but people had him winning :hhh:) and he showed he is what I said he was, word to Arsonal. Battle rap needs to get some people from Atlanta or something. These east coast nikkas are terrible. If it wasn’t for St Louis this shyt wouldn’t have blown up and been so entertaining. I’m from Atlanta. Just keepin it 100 :umad:

Salute REED AND REX for SELLING A BATTLE AND DELIVERING. Did Rex use two random verses? Yes. Did he choke? Nope. And Reed is getting Surf next because of that.

Good build + solid three rounds = you get rewarded. SMACK better NOT take these negus to London.

You’re seriously saluting Rex for that bullshyt?

He spit a dope round followed by his usual mixtape bars and unprofessionalism

The fact that he delivered a solid round and then fell off a sharply as he did the rest of the battle is almost insulting, it’s clear dude can give us a good performance if he wants but just doesn’t care that much

Salute to Reed. Not Rex. I don’t think Rex should ever get booked on Smack again. If he’s gonna be uninspired and unprofessional, let him battle Rosenberg Raw at a nightclub in northeast Pennsylvania for $500. We don’t need that sh1t on the big stage

Also you’re actng like a good buildup and solid 3 rounds is a special accomplishment and should be rewarded. This is battle rap. Were paying $50 to watch. These dudes are getting paid thousands of dollars to write/ rap. A good buildup and 3 solid rounds should be the bare minimum

They could have easily done without Ave vs Math and promoted their most popular young gunners. No one wanted Ave v Math to happen.
Chef Trez v Jerry Wess instead. No one would complain at all.
