Except none of that's true. The west coast has always had a vibrant underground scene. Dilated, Madlib, Tha Liks etc

good album. not claSSIC.

Of course the West has always had a dope underground. Only problem is around the time BTH dropped no ones was checking for Tha Liks or Dilated, groups that dropped their first album in the mid 90's. We're talking about the youth. At some point the old guard has to pass the torch to the new guard.

To say that there hasnt been a rap classic since Supreme Clientele or whatever dusty album you personally prefer is to say that Hip Hop is dead. Maybe it is, or maybe you're just getting too old for it.

So lemme ask you again, why isnt Below The Heavens classic? What are you using to determine classic status other than the Source made a list?

a forced classic doesn't exist, you just have a different opinion and don't like it, thats all

Madlib.

It isn't classic because it doesn't sound like a classic and barely anyone of any true weight thinks of it as such.

Yeah... that's more of a critique of the current gate keepers in rap than against the album. There aren't any critics who's opinion holds weight with the fans and the few who do hold weight are considered to hipster hype. Since internet replaced the magazines and all the 90's "journalists" sold out to their corporate overlords there hasnt been a credible source for reviews other than fan consensus.

Below the Heavens is one of the few consensus classics to come out in the last decade.

Dogg Pound- Dogg Food. Another CD I bought. No Songs on my ipod at all. If someone held a gun to my head and asked me to recite just 1 song from this tape, I couldn't.

Any real hip-hop head that read the bolded would know this guy is trolling out of control. Good topic, but terrible execution.
