there should at least be a serious discussion about violence in games..movies..tv..etc...

I'm not tap dancing. I offered effective non lethal solutions and you said you you'd rather just kill some one. The truth is most people breaking in your house to steal your tv don't have a gun anyway. If they have a couple hundred $ to buy and maintain a gun, they don't need to steal your tv to sell it for a hundred $

Does anyone have knowledge of the gun control policies in the U.K? What are the rules? I'd like to understand other countries policies and why it works for them. It's hard to separate policies from our "culture" surrounding guns.

I'm protecting myself, my family, and my possession. I'm an immigrant who lived in the slums for the first 7 years I lived in this country. I've seen it from both sides. For the last 14 years I've lived in a nice town. The surrounding areas aren't so nice though. Maybe its an ego thing. But I think its more of a cultural thing. Im from Russia. Its in my blood. Russia doesn't have issues with guns. I know the responsibility it takes to own one. I know what I have to do to protect myself and my family. In this day and age people stoop to low levels. I want to make sure that if need be, I can protect myself against any threat. If that means pulling a gun and using it, so be it. I'm not going to risk my life just so someone else doesnt get shot. fukk that.

I don't disagree with better regulation in that you should have to take training classes that actually mean something.

I am against banning any guns though. The difference between assault and non-assault is minimal.

Also, what if you got robbed and 30 people STILL got killed by gun violence?

Why do you need the gun to do that though? If the guy wasn't going to shoot you, he won't (he came to steal, not to kill). If he feels threatened by a gun, NOW he might shoot. You both start shooting, stray bullet goes through your daughter who woke up because of all the noise. Why run the risk? Is your laptop that valuable?
