Striking out doesn’t matter as much as it used to.
That doesn’t mean it’s meaningless. But there are a lot of players who struck out more than Tony Gwynn did who were better than Tony Gwynn.

I was just commenting on the surface.
I don’t even follow baseball anymore so I wouldn’t be surprised at all that the game has changed in ways that make certain stats more/less important (similar to the NBA and 3 pointers).

Trout has been plagued with injuries these last few years. With that said, no one is taking peak Harper over Trout. Trout is top 5 position players since 2000(Pujols; ARod, Miggy, Bonds).
