so because he's not as popular as Drake and KDot, he's irrelevant? The fukk is wrong with some of y'all logic? How many rappers actually went gold this year. In less than 2 months at that.

For real these nikkas sound dumb as shyt. Big Sean would kill to have J Cole's numbers right now

Look you got to take into account that labels market artists with a certain 'persona'

Jay-Z is marketed as a consummate business man - regardless of if he is REALLY a great business man or not thats his marketing
Kendrick is marketed as bringing lyrics back - regardless of whether he is that lyrically ahead of competition or not thats his marketing
Drake is marketed as a sensitive singing player - regardless of whether he can really sing, is really a player, or whether he complains about the drake that type of nikka jokes, thats his marketing

JCole right now has a problem in that he doesn't have a unique marketing angle, he is kinda marketed as Drake and he is marketed as Kendrick... and he is doing well for himself, but he is secondary to both dudes in that persona quality wise, and not as popular as either of them... musically he is obvously trying to go for the new positive tupac angle (many have gone for the thug pac angle), not sure if he really wants his marketing persona to be that clearly marketing as a imitator though

Didn't dude just have one of the highest selling and one of the most critically acclaimed albums of this year? I damn near hear Crooked Smile everyday on radio

Exactly what I meant. It was working around 2009-2011 (before his album dropped) because Kendrick wasn't around but now that there are people occupying both of those slots and doing it really well it exposes how diluted Cole's shyt really is.

But he is also to blame for his success and popularity remaining stagnant. At this point Born Sinner is on pace to sell just as much as his first album because the music is just as average. He needs to step it up imo.
I agree he could do more and there's tons of room for improvement. I just think irrelevant was the wrong term here.

Dude is putting Music that a lot of people enjoy, and Born Sinner while flawed was good set up from his debut to me. He's not my favorite but he's still of the best out as far as mainstream goes.

i hate that power trip joint, every time that shyt comes on it gets me flipping stations, and even though i'm a fan of "lyrical" rap, i'd rather hear rich homie quan or jeezy than j cole, dude is mad boring, even that money phone shyt gets me hype
u aint lyin bruh..i get tired of hearin that shyt on the radio.

LOL by the time he drops his 3rd album this time next year, Cole will take over the game and none of you will realize it. He low key and focus on what's important: expand his hardcore fanbase. Most people will dikkride and worship swag rappers that don't sell shyt and make weak ass club sings, but Cole gonna drop his Vol. 2 and do all kinds of crazy shyt.

He really is fading. I kind of forgot about him now that he isn't getting spins out here like he was. The fukked up part is he is a talented guy.
I guess eminem will fade to and has faded after not releasing any material for 3 years and still outsold anybody not named drake this year :beli:

most of the people on the radio 24-7 don't sell any records meanwhile this dude has 2 gold albums in a climate where records don't sell well and he is fading away now :what: he hands down has the most loyal fanbase outside of drake out of that class of rappers, radio spins dosent transition into album sales.
