I don't understand yall problem with songs like Laffy Taffy

Those songs serve a specific purpose and have been around since the beginning of hiphop

I didnt have a problem with Laffy Taffy. Nothing wrong with the snap music phase that came along.

IMO the way I looked at it like that was my generation's version of the Tootsie Roll :manny:

nikkas just started getting beyond mad when Laffy Taffy started getting more play and airtime than their shyt :heh:

That's what all these complaints come down to.

People want the music that they like to be what's popular.

I see it the way K.Dot is garnering all of this praise around him.

This board would be so happy if K.Dot was in the position Wayne is.

:salute: You just summed up the mentality of this board

You can't be be mad at people for liking the songs they like.

They get so mad at these artist for becoming popular from a song they hate but everyone else loves.

Its not enough for them to just listen to their music and enjoy it.

They want EVERYBODY to like that sh1t. They want their artist to be in the best possible postion because that artist touched them in some way with their music.

Thats just not how it works

the funny part about this... is that them Dungeon Family nikkas ALL respect these new Atlanta rappers.

you rarely ever hear about old head Atlanta rappers coming out of pocket and talking sideways about new ATL rappers....and if they do, it's cause some disrespectful shyt went down, not just some " they music is shyt, mine was better" shyt.

shyt, Andre 3k got himself a verse on DJ Unk's "Walk It Out"... Future is Dungeon Family, Khujo Goodie on the same Underground Atlanta album with the likes of Travis Porter

Atlanta has always been a place where nikkas danced... wether it was the Bankhead Bounce in 95,Throwin Bows in 2000,The Eastside stomp in 2003, Crankin/Snappin' in 2006-07, or to whatever is about to come out next...Atlanta is always gonna be a place where they make music to dance to...people suddenly decided that Dance Music was supposed to contain all types of lyrical prowess.

Rap has always had them one hit wonders...don't blame some shyt that always existed on the south breh....Y'all lowkey sound self hating.

You can't blame the south...or NY for nikkas running the punchline niche in the ground. If you wanna talk about how wack the music was in whatever era then list specific artists and run with that.

Punchline rap is almost it's own subgenre damn near, so is "battle rap", nikkas only bring up cats like serious jones because he went and TRIED to jump into the mainstream without any skillset for that particular arena, you can't look at cats like him not being able to translate a battle skillset to radio and start throwing a blanket over whole regions.

As a fan of punchline rap i didn't get pretty bad, it got to the point where if your name wasn't banks or budden i really couldn't even be bothered to hear what you were talking about, it's been run into the ground, as a nikka who used to write i hear variations of shyt that i was saying in the late 90's, it's DONE for the most part, at least in the sense that someone can come and make a name for themselves JUST based on that.

all them rappers who were on Fight Klub,URL and Smack DVD's are guilty too.

None of these nikkas held any weight outside of public access TV ...come on now, these are the guys influential enough to bring about the decline of lyricism?

Cause as a whole, this is was what NYC was churning out...at insane levels.

the NYC Mixtape rapper era, was all about " spit the hottest 16 you can, with as many punchlines over a beat.... fukk a chorus, hook, or song structure.

An entire era of countless people being able to rap, but not being able to make songs...had nothing to do with anything?

I just asked a question. are you seriously throwing insults? I mean, I always defended you, but you wanna throw shots? you seriously don't want that problem ak. trust.

as for your list, a lot of the rappers you listed weren't even "punchiline" or "spit a hot 16" rappers. youre just naming names.

as for the rappers that I underlined. those are all dope ARTISTS. and this is coming from me. if yall know my steez, yall know I don't even get down with rippity-rappers when they try to make mixtapes & albums.

also, theres a few I didn't bold that are good artists in terms of making songs but havnt kept my attention thru a whole album/mixtape like 40 cal. dude is a beast but hes better off in a group. same with dudes like jae millz & posta boy. and theres a few that I never got around to checking for like that, such as cory gunz, so no comment on them. jae hood was nice when he was like 17. I don't know what happened after that.
