I will say this, Charles Barkley was right a season or 2 ago when he said Donovan Mitchell isnt that impactful of a player. For any player this day in age to only have maybe 2 double-doubles and 0 triple-doubles shows that.

Edit: I looked it up, and he has 7 Double-doubles in his career.

Yeah, that's crazy when you think about it - Donovan Mitchell Game by Game Stats and Performance | ESPN

Only 2 double doubles this year, never a triple double when Westbrook averaged that for 4 seasons.

Mitchell only getting about 4 rebounds and 4/5 assists a season.

And he only has 9 points tonight, just 4:44 left in game.

All he looks to do is score. The stat of passing just 2 times/game to Gobert shows that. He doesnt get rebounds or assists if he is having an off game. Gotta help out in other ways on the court then just scoring.

He is basically Allen Iverson of today, except teams now score 110 a game instead of 85-90, so those points dont mean as much.

You sound stupid af iverson was still avg over 7 assists for over 5 of his best scoring seasons .. don’t ever compare them again

Man, calm down and get off your parents computer. I was talking about just the scoring/shooter aspect of Mitchell's game. Of course Iverson averaged more assists, he actually passed the ball, which is my point. Mitchell needs to pass more and stop chucking.

Yeah, 7 DDs in 340+ career games for someone who has the ball all the time is not a good look. And only 3 double digit rebound games in career. I know thats tough with Gobert on the team though.

Massive insult to Iverson. Iverson was inefficient, but scored meaningful points. Mitchell is a chucker. Dude can score 35 with 12 of that in garbage time and the rest on 40%. I don't like him whatsoever. Iverson had some dog in him.

What am i missing? The comparison is the inefficiency and that Mitchell's points dont hit like Iverson's hit because of the higher scoring of today. Im saying he would be more effective in that day. Fully agree that Iverson had dog in him that Mitchell does not.

He was pretty great in the last two postseasons. I don't think he's THAT guy but Utah's pretty limited offensively. He's their only real creator in the starting lineup and that chucker Clarkson is probably the only other guy who can create their own shot on a consistent basis. Maybe Bogdanovic too but I look at him more as a finisher.

I'm hesitant to say he could potentially be a number 3 on a chip team..

Jazz gonna blow it up this summer :wow:

He needs to be next to a big playmaker like Cade, Luka, Bron, etc. so that he can play PG on defense covering up his lack of size at the 2, increase his efficiency by adding a little more catch-and-shoot to his game, and having someone in charge so the offense has a better passer and will prevent Mitchell from going Hero-Ball mode which he always does

Wouldnt be shocked if the kings trade for mitchell

Dons problem is that his depth of offense is pretty limited outside of his slashing and streaky shooting. And he's below average on defense.

The bigger problem is the Jazz as a whole get cold on offense quite often. So Don gets into situations where he has to re-ignite their stagnant offense but lacks the skillset to do so (IMO only Luka, Jokic, Bron and Cp3 consistently could).

So the Jazz as currently constructed really expose his deficiencies.
