I gave this a thought. Less attractive people have a harder time in life and start to question who they are in greater detail. This questioning leads some to realize or think that they are LGBT. Something society never really talks about is the privilege that attractiveness brings and the rewards that come from that. This may be more of an issue for women though, as they are judged by how they look more than men.
