Classic Niccas
^well thats not saying much seeing that there werent a whole heap of classic albums after '96. maybe about 15 tops.

and youre basically admitting that LAD had a noticeable amount of filler. yet youre championing it as a classic? this is just wrong.

Life After Death is classic because the modern day blueprint for what a rap album has become......It's one of the first rap albums I've listened to that felt like there was something for everyone. Almost like a resume of why Biggie was the illest. He had the street joints, the story telling joints, the party joints, the smooth r&B girl joint, the diss record, the rip joint. He literally did it all on this album (with the exception of the conscious record....Big just wasn't there yet at 25) but yeah....I think this album fukked the game up. Rappers stopped doing them and tried to please everyone, which is what this album did.

I love Pac but I wish every thread didn't have to turn into a Pac vs Big, Pac vs Jay, Pac vs The World Thread...Same with Jay vs NaS.

Also, some of you guys have no taste in music....Someone in this thread didn't like I got a story to tell or nikkas bleed? Like WTF....How could u not like those tracks? How old are some of yall? I literally can drop I got a story to tell in a party and people would sing along....

pac was already the master of combining all of those types of songs. and he had a chitload of conscious songs, which biggie didnt have.

LMBAO @ you describing all eyez on me,the album that LAD was trying to compete with and blatantly modeled after. Yet trying to credit LAD as the originator

:pacspit: and i love LAD but you're zoning

I don't think All Eyez was as good as LAD to be honest and I love Pac...To me there was always a lot of filler on that album, lots of tracks were just automatic skips but I need to revisit it it's funny because What's Your Phone Number just grew on me, it took me numerous one night stands and all types of trains and shyt to get that record....lol it was an automatic skip for a while.

"Life After Death" has nothing in common with "AEOM" outside being Double Disc. Tupac ain't spittin no midwest style flow, Tupac didn't have the type of Storytelling Big had. Tupac did not have no hard core lyrical joints like Kick in the Door or 10 Crack Commandments that Backpackers could like. "AEOM" sounded like a Westcoast album. Most of the beats were by 1 Producer, Johnny J. Biggie had tracks that appealed to every single coast based on the style of beats, there was more versatility in Big's production. "LAD" is way more versatile sound wise and Lyrically than AEOM. Also LAD only expanded on formulas from Ready To Die. So No LAD was not modeled after AEOM. It was modeled after RTD. So yes Rappers ala Jay and NaS and plenty others copied LAD blueprint as far as style and production. The only thing Pac did more of was conscious songs and on AEOM he went away from a lot of the conscious songs from his 1st 3 albums.

people call "life after death" overrated everyday b. lets not act like the overwhelming majority holds this album in high regard.

the majority? yes. but not the overwhelming majority. and lets be real, most of the people that hold this album up as goat material are just following the crowd. this is a cliche pick. basically the pre-cursor to "get rich or die tryin". only difference is, 50 didnt die, so theres nothings stopping people from souring on the album.

i used to force myself to say that LAD is a classic because i felt like i was supposed to say that chit. the idea of it being classic was engraved in me before the album even dropped. had to grow out of that.

chill will. yall need to stop buggin. its not just about me personally not liking the album. i dont operate like that. im a classic nicca dammit. if that were the case, i would leave it at being a personal thing. but its not. theres tons of people who share the exact same sentiments. this album is heavily disputed homeboy!

how many times are you gonna keep talking about the album being sampled? i ask you again, how is this album sampled like crazy when most of the tracks are samples themselves?

ignoring peoples rebuttals just so that you can rehash the same posts a few pages later? thats that chit i dont like.

and where are all these songs that sampled LAD at anyway?:skip:

An album doesn't obtain Classic status without an overwhelming Majority agree that it is. You making it like it's 60/40 or 50/50. It's more like 80/20, 90/10 that's why the album is revered one of the greatest rap albums ever. The album has been sampled LYRICALLY by a ton of rappers from Jay, NaS, Cube, etc, etc, etc. What rebuttals? I just hear a bunch of "Oh this song wasn't perfect, that song wasn't perfect" that's not a rebuttal. Nobody has yet been able to refute the FACT the album is already viewed as one of the greatest rap albums of all time. Cause that's the consensus already, you see when something is considered a Classic, there's a consensus. So no this album is not Heavily "Disputed" if that was the case it wouldn't be on some many magazine, fans and rappers themselves greatest albums of all time list. Again you are on an island, LAD status isn't questioned.

So it's a classic because of everything BUT the music? All of the versatility he displayed did not translate into the best of track type "X"
