I'll keep it one hunnid. One of my good friends and his wife were in the same situation. They kept the child. It's a blessing and he's a wonderful kid. BUT he is stuck at that point developmentally and will always be a burden for someone to take care of.

That and this thread right here gave me perspective on that type of decision:

The reality of this situation is not very politically correct.

Damn reading the comments on there is extremely depressing. Just imagining all that was torture. :wow:

Like someone said get a second opinion.

But I would be most worried about what would happen to my child if something happened to us. Having seen people in adult care, there are so many unsavory people... it’s hard enough when you constantly check on them I can’t imagine if I wasn’t alive to make sure they weren’t abused or taken advantage of. Not to mention the cost of that kind of care from School age through the rest of their lives.

Thinking about the job market and how things are going. Who knows of a lot of the jobs the child could work would even be available in 18 years. These are things people don’t think about. It’s more than just can you love them enough and be willing to sacrifice.

Not even bringing the homophobia into it...
If y'all nikkas knew the stress of actually dealing with someone mentally special needs y'all wouldn't compare that shyt
shyt ain't funny.

It ain't homophobic to not want a gay son, breh. Homosexuality is a mental disorder, whether it's recognized as one or not. For a little boy to be fiendin for some dikk in his ass HAS to mean something wrong with him

But im not even trying to discuss that in this thread... but since you took it there :manny:

I'm insulted by you telling me that it's homophobia to not want a gay son. That is extremely insulting

I couldn't too many variables like if my and my wife died I would feel so horrible about passing off the child to a family member

Then social aspects of them being bullied

Then what about the other children you may have putting that burden on them is too much

People with down syndrome live normal lives, have jobs, live on their own, and even get married:gucci:

I swear everyone on the coli thinks anyone with a disorder is automatically drooling at the mouth and twitching.

I hear ya...but I'm not built for those issues...God knows:francis:

Everybody isn't born equal. Evolutionary reasons, unfortunately I would understand but the human aspect of me can only dispear.

I've worked for years with the ID population and seen and met some amazing individuals. If you can settle with them living a happy life within their spectrum of understanding and won't be embarrassed by societies offbrandish behavior, then don't worry much.
It can be tough and usually after 22 some parents rushing to get them out the home into group homes or facilities.

I had two older brother with mental retardation

I personally feel like abortion isn't wrong if you feel like you wouldn't be able to give the child the best quality of life .

I say get the abortion cause inoe I wouldn't be strong enough to deal with it.

People in the church are going to judge you but remember they wasn't Guna help you raise them if something was wrong the baby anyway.

I would 100% abort. I wouldn't want to live with downs syndrome nor would I want to out my kid through having to live with that.

Abort.
