Good story and salute to you for turning your life around.
2 questions?
1. What happened with your mom? Y'all still cool or nah?
2. You ever thought about being a mentor or something for young black boys? I think it would be good for them to hear someone who's been in that street life to let em know it's not as cool as they think it is. Not to mention you could be that male guidance in their teen years that you yourself said you didn't have. I'd consider it if I were you.
Nah, me & mom duke close as ever. That's my heart. And yeah, I was actually fukkin w a teacher a while back who told me about this young kid (inner city Richmond, VA) from some project in the area of the school where she teaches. Homie smart as hell, like 11, and already got multiple felonies on his record. Does his work, but ONLY for her, (she's 30 y.o. a white broad), and she gives him her personal ipod & lets him put whatever beats he wants on it & listen to the music she has, and instrumentals she downloads for him in her free time (at his request) just so he gets his work done quietly & productively.
He's a beast when he's focused, but he out in the streets hanging out late, parents nowhere to be found, selling drugs, doing lil stick ups. In & out of detention centers. shyt pulled at my heartstrings to hear about it cuz he reminded me of me. Maybe worse, with the way the world is now. I'ma do everything in my power to reach that boy. Most cats these days look up at mentors like fukk boys, but I really think I got a chance to get through to son. 27 with 22 tattoos. I rhyme and got a story he can relate to. I'm definitely gonna look into mentoring as something I do in my spare time once I'm well established and satisfied with my stature a bit more.
Lifetime probation?
Indefinite. Could've been lifetime if I let it. These court systems don't care about shyt for the most part, but their money, that keeps their machine going, and their conviction rates, which place prosecutors in judge positions, and judges in government positions. All I had to do was pay off my court fines, a state mandated anger management program, and keep my nose clean (on paper)

I'm off that bytch now & leaving the state within the next couple years. Never looking back.
