I think y'all need to know what playing against each other mean. Sweeping this stuff under the rug and acting ike it's a non-issue or the cry of the unwanted/rejects will continue to ensure that this cancer festers and divides internally which is not the same as actively wanting to address what we all know exist. Colorism exist and is not anymore a figment of black woman's imagination than white supremacy. The sooner black men and women acknowledge the sooner things can be done to actually fix this problem.my nikka this has been going on since slavery. The white supremacists played us against each other.

They played us against each other so we would fight each other and not focus on the fact we weren't free. It was a divide and conquer tactic. Slavery ended only 150 years ago so unfortunately we as a community are still psychologically affected by it. Basically many of us still have the slave mentality
I will say this: animosity of black girls toward their lightskinned/mixed counterparts does exist. People like to mistreat those they have immediate access instead of dealing with the source. Just like young black men resorting to killing each other in the streets.

I never noticed this particularly with lightskinned and dark skinned women...but more so with black women and non-black women in commercials...notice that in commercials (wal mart for example) LS women are seen with a child and a husband while darker toned women who star in McDonalds/KFC commercials are USUALLY shown with just the child and no adult male playing the dad

Lightskin Vs Darkskin privileges dont only exist for those of color. This is a world wide epidemic, not just some American issue... The problem is American just like everything else, we huff and puff about it while perpetuating it. World wide light skin women are more desirable than darkskin women and have been. Its not just a black white thing, we make the biggest deal out of it though.
Light skin women have advantages as far as getting favors from men, and getting into work/jobs easier. However the more responsibility and higher up the food chain they go it gets harder and they must demand respect even more so than there dark skin counter parts.
Both dark skin and light skin black women and men get hated on, its just how it goes. Don't try and make it out as if one is worse than the other it just depends on how badly you got bullied or how much hate you got in your city.
Darkskin women have the advantage of being perceived as strong.
Light skin women have the dis advantage of being perceived as messy and needy.
Its all stereotypes that we play into and continue to perpetuate.
Opinion: I personally believe the case is that having lighter skin doesn't accentuate features while being darker does. Therefore its a bit "easier" to pass off being attractive as a lighter skin person. When your darker, your features good or bad stand out so much more... thats just my opinion however. The only thing on light skin people that really jumps out at you are there eye's and there skin care.

Why does everyone try to dodge the blame? It's not just one evil group that perpetuates the idea that light = better. It's been engraved into society over centuries of white colonisation, and western influence.
