To be honest man Im glad my sister and cosuins grew up in the burbs, we had no clue there were any colorism issues until college. No joke we were all flabbergasted other blacks thought like this. I'll never understand it and I dont want to understand theres a lot of hostility I personally never saw but it just seems stupid. My mom is light my dad is medium. I just dont get what the issue is

I have not experienced it either but the more I interact with blacks in predominantly black neighborhoods the more I see how ingrained this mentality is.

And I refused to accept it.

Okay I agree with some of that, but how far are black men to be blame for colorism?

Remember the media is a powerful force and putting a lot of light skin women as prizes will persuade black men on what is beauty.

I think the problem with this discussion is some people blaming one group and not looking at the system that promotes colorism.

Black men can come out tomorrow and say dark skin women is just as beautiful as light skin women, it still will not stop white own media pushing light skin as pretty and dark skin as less than.

I'm talking about the black community. You're right that the issue is ultimately stemming from white supremacy but it's dudes in this thread trivializing the issue or refusing to acknowledge it. I never had issues with dark skinned girls, maybe its a Miami thing but we were all cool, none of the light skinned girls had issues with dark skinned girls. In fact there were many light skin + dark skin best friend combos in all of my schools from elementary to high school. 9/10 times the only issues girls had with each other revolved around boys and gossip.

I agree with this, living in Miami and never heard colorism until online. I remember back at school the finest chick that all the nikkas wanted was a dark skin girl(I'm still heart broken when she rejected me.). Dark skin women even get the top black dudes out here, two of my cousin(who are dark skin) got successful husbands(who are also dark skin).

Black people know the system exist...they mention it all the time. They are not oblivious to it they juat don't care to do anything about it because they either bemefit or perpertrate it and these people are as bad as the racists.

I'm Sure there are ethiopians who do have inferiority complex and date white women exclusively to get approval but but most are proud of their culture and find their women attractive.

It wasn't a bad program, I skipped out on the last hour though. It was a bit too much of people getting on their soapbox to air out their grievances, about things I already know and not being truthful about the history of it all; the latter is what really aggravated me. I was looking at it thinking to myself, why can't you understand that all of these issues are externally applied to us. The media is not our own so don't look to it to serve as a source of positive reinforcement. Main one I remember is Wayne Brady saying some round about shyt like its not white peoples' fault we think in this way its ours. All I could do is sigh because the truth isn't hard to find but when you hesitate in facing you create lies around it to make it seem analogous.

I don't date black women exclusively so it makes no difference to me.
In that same breath, I also don't make a LSA account with the intent to antagonize black women and tell them how much they ain't shyt in comparison to others, or flaunt my IR relationship intentionally in their space.
I'm happy, so there's no reason to.
Any ire females get here is ire they sought.
Black men aren't out here antagonizing black women in interracial couplings or sucking their teeth at the sight of an IR pairing.
If there's any group of men on this planet who take some twisted solace in their women forming unions with other ethnicities, it's black men.
When Dirk Nowitnzki married a black woman, black dudes were in their celebrating because he found a black woman attractive.
White men would have called her every name but the one on her birth certificate if it was the inverse.
Middle eastern men would have exiled and threatned to stone her if she showed her face in their community.
Most black men aren't responding negatively to whoever you desire to date until you bring it in their space and dangle it in front of them, something a lot of women here go out of their way to do.
But then complain about being victimized when they're verbally berated.
Disregarding that 99% of them aren't really in IR unions aND are trolls, that's the response they're looking for, and they get it.
I prefer to place them on ignore and KIM.
Black women are the only women on planet Earth who engage in such behavior and I have no pity for any woman who is attacked for doing so.
