Timer definitely killing this game for me.
an hour in-game is 3 minutes. i'm trying to finish the patron quest and i'm at the end of it in a big room and i can't fine out how to continue so i keep having to reload save files because i have 30 in-game minutes left on my clock. which is like really a minute and a half.

this timer was the dumbest idea they ever came up with. you literally have to know where you're going before you go there because you don't have time to look.

just completed the Snow arc. I totally respect dude now. shyt got pretty heavy towards the end of it. It was about as emotional as I've ever seen Lightning get.

took about 20ish hours but i'm at the final battle. having played XIII-2 and now this i feel like XIII should have been the end of the series. while XIII-2 was enjoyable it feels very much disconnected from the original game mostly because there was no foreshadowing of it in the original game. they basically retconned XIII-2 and LR into existence. they reek of unplanned sequels and the stories feel sloppy as a result. the story to this last game was very much a disappointment. you can't even call this fan service. the production values in this game are also all over the place. most of the npcs look the same for example. it just feels like a budget title to me.

the story of all three games should have been written at the same time and cleaned up a bit and condensed into one game or two at the most. Caius and Yeul should have been in the original game also. whoever wrote the mythology of this series and its back story clearly didn't write out the actual scenario for the first game.

also how the cast aside Sazh in this game is unforgivable. he was the best character in the main party other than Fang. he's nothing more than a cameo here. then again most of the other characters are cameos too but he's like half the level of a cameo that they are.

the Yuna and Cloud outfits are overpowered. hell i beat the game and never took them out of my rotation. used both of them and the paladin on the last boss.

the last boss has 4 forms but is kinda a pushover. the last form all you have to do is stagger it and it dies very fast. the trick is to avoid using ep on the first three forms as much as possible or save at least 4 ep for the last form. that way you can span overclock and take it down faster. i'm pretty sure if you don't stagger it before it uses its ultimate attack you die.

the hardest boss in the game was the Wildlands boss who to me was ever harder than the final boss with 4 forms.

Wildlands boss Kaius? He killed me like 5 times then I beat him not really expecting to. I was just like huh? I killed em? fukk yeah! Artemis Arrows did him in.

You know despite the annoying side quests style this game is strangely addicting. I found myself not being able to stop playing last night.

Brehs I didn't finish XIII (too linear) or XIII-2 (time/not finishing the first), but I loved the paradigm system and all that. Will I be okay with just reading the plots of the last two on Wiki and jumping right into this one? :lolbron:

Yeah. This one doesn't really rely on the first game much. The second game I'd youtube the cutscenes if I didn't wanna play it.

This third game heavily ties into the second game. The bulk of the plot is dedicated to wrapping up loose ends from XIII-2. That said I could see this as a standalone game too. You'll be told what happened in the second game very briefly here.

I only did like 20 side quest in this game and the final boss was easy. You can't level grind in this game. You only gain stats by doing side quest. Also the timer becomes a none factor once you realize you automatically get an extra day for every one of the 5 main quest you do. I literally burned like 5 days at the end of the game by sleeping at the inns because I just wanted to beat the game.

Yuna and CLoud aren't OP when you facing a Chocobo Eater or the Wildlands boss :pachaha:

It's pretty good to me but this is coming from a FF stan. The workaround for the countdown clock is an ability called Chronostasis and it stops time for about 10 mins or so. You fight and gain more points, spam Chronostasis. The problem is you're constantly aware of the clock and its a distraction from relaxing and enjoying the game, which is what FF is supposed to be about...the adventure.

But most reviewers are saying its an illusion and you'll have plenty of time/days left over when you finish the main missions. The difficulty level is high too. Early in the game you'll find yourself running from battles and then you are penalized for that. If I were you I'd wait for that price drop though.

Props man. I'm reading some of these reviews like gamespot and ign but I can't tell if its legit or they're just complaining because they're sick of the XIII story
