As someone who isnt vested in either school, I can tell you what regular people think. USC has the bigger visibility. They are the ones with the national titles recently. They are the ones getting music donations from Dre and Jimmy Iovine. Laker fan favorite Nick Young went to USC. You get a different reaction when you say you go to USC vs UCLA.

The USC alumni network is CRAZY in LA. Much better than UCLA.

USC is definitely the more popular of the two in So Cal (aside from West LA for obvious reasons) for those who went to neither, but outside of the region, UCLA is the 1st school people mention when they think about the school in LA. Breh, my friends from other countries or other states (who didn't watch football) didn't even know about USC when I mentioned it to them.
