Interesting comparison. I’m very into metal, and I’m familiar with the nu-metal phase and what came after it. If hip-hop follows the same pattern, we’re in for a treat. After the nu-metal phase, metal got more aggressive, more violent, more negative (which is a good thing in the metal world). Perhaps hip-hop will go more into lyricism, positivity, and skills (which are good things in the hip-hop world). We’ll see...

I'm with you on this but....Marilyn Manson isn't Nu Metal, his music is Industrial Metal... along with bands like Nine Inch Nails, Ministry etc.

It is a weird time in Hip Hop. Its been 5 yrs since Cole made his mark & he, along with everyone else from that starting point, now entering their 30s. What he's doing is no different than Nas did with HHID 10 years ago, except the state of music has been relatively flat for a while.

Side note. Im starting to feel my age. What's the age gap between the two? 14/15 years? In a couple more yrs there'll be another rapper coming out, & Cole will be old enough to be their dad.
