As art is culture.....Hip Hop IS a culture. Their are good and bad aspects of every culture, that doesn't stop it from being a culture. You can claim it or not, That's not the question. That's not the concern here. The concern is the exploitation of the culture.

So turning a blind eye to something doesn't make it disappear.

I never said art is THE culture. but if someone is benefiting off of an aspect of a culture by exploiting the bad side of, said culture, then it effects the entire culture, as it marginalizes it's importance and relevance to those outside of it. It makes it look bad. It makes us look bad.

And just because hip hop has been exploited for forever, doesn't mean we can't call out the current exploitation. Next step is to shun those that we ID.. give them no light, not even negative light, because negativity is what's getting these plundering pirates fame.
