On the e-streets of SOHH Wayne's year was 2008 (along with T-Pain). Before that it was Nas, Jay-Z, 50 Cent and G-Unit, The Game, Kanye and even Prodigy and Dipset. T.I., Luda, Jeezy and Ross were making noise in the south. Wayne was undeniable after C3, but aint no one gave a fukk about a C2 like that unless you were in the deep south. Rap game has always been about dikkriding, Wayne started showing up on A-list albums heavy around 2008.
This is cap. Carter 2 is a classic and more revered than any Ludacris project.

Wayne been featured heavy prior to 2008.

Y’all don’t know shyt. Stick to the 90s breh :mjlol:

If somebody who is from that region says Wayne was always that dude I’ll take their word for it. I know up here most of us had never even heard of Cash Money till Ha. Juvie and BG instantly became those dudes in 99.

Wayne had a little popularity but he was kinda irrelevant until he started dropping those Squad Up mixtapes. He started bubbling a little bit and then he dropped C1. But what really made Wayne a superstar was that 05-06 run when he dropped C2, Dedication 2 and Like Father Like Son
Wayne had 106 and Park buzz before he even dropped C1 though. The kids all loved him.

Because B.G. is the reason CMR got the deal with Universal. B.G. was like the second most sought after member of the group after Juve.
Yea we know bg was hot in the streets. Streets don’t equal commercial success

This is my favorite song off that album:

You riding good through the hood say IT'S NOTHING

I legitimately listen to B.G. more than I listen to Wayne, always have.

Thing is I know a lot of folks growing up that legitimately did too. People are saying it was BG>>>

They’re not lying these dudes really wasn’t listening to them like that and you can tell

400 came out in late 1998 it just didnt hit until 1999. CCITG dropped in 99

The OG Chopper City was in 1996

400 Degreez was released in late 98 but hit its stride in 99. CCITG came out in spring 99. You're confusing BG catalog because All On U is the album that dropped in 97.

I said what I said.

True. But there was a lot of acts that came and went that was on that show. I’m not saying Wayne was some bum or anything but he was far from one of the hottest in the game
He did with a lot of young rappers couldnt do back then, and that is transition to adulthood and be taken seriously.

He saved cash money. Then it died once he left in 2018.

In Louisiana Wayne aint really started shining until that 1st Hotboy Album. BG and Juvi were way more Popular. Cash Money performed in the hood at my Uncle club around 97 a while before 400 degrees. Soulja Rags was hot. Everybody knew Juvenile. I remember seeing Wayne standing alone, and I no one was sweating him. I knew who he was from the Hotboy Album cover. But know nobody else really knew him. Just Juvie, but they didnt have no Videos out until Soulja Rags.

The Streets loved B.G, he was like a New Orleans Scarface. Chopper City Dropped in 1996, it was like Illmatic to us, but from a 16/17 year old. :dahell:

B.G's - Uptown Thang was the shyt!!! Anytime anybody freestyled, it was with BG flow.

Juvenile came in hot in 97. Juvenile's song Soulja Rags hit Louisiana hard! Harder than any song from Cash Money at that time. It was a bigger hit than UNLVs Drag em from the River in 97/98 because it was a fun club song. That's what separated BG from Juvie and Wayne. Juvie and Wayne made more songs women liked, club friendlier songs with witty lines.

Wayne started becoming popular when the first hotboys and big tymers album hit in late 97. The young fans and women loved him. He outshined all the Hotboy on many of the Big Tymers tracks. Just his Flare. When he dropped his album it was over. I don't think he could drop a complete album, I was wrong. Lights Out and 500 degrees were decent but wasn't as good as his Debut.

As far as Nationally, Wayne didn't get to Major Respect until Carter I and the Mixtapes. I was in DC when it dropped Summer 2004. Everyone started they locs in DC then.

Carter II made Weezy a Legend.

B.G. had commercial success on top of the streets. B.G. had a platinum album and one that went gold. During the same period, Wayne had a gold and a platinum album. So to say B.G. didn't have commercial success is to say Wayne didn't have commercial success during that era either.
