We can argue Carter 1 wasn’t, as much of a revival it gave his career.

Carter II was HUGE, lauded by fans and casuals alike. shyt was inescapable. I wouldn’t call it perfect but it was definitely neck and neck with “Thug Motivation: 101” as albums that immediately put the culture in a stranglehold.

It wasn’t just the tapes that put him on the map, both Carter I/II increased his following on their own. The tapes kept people interested in between.

Many of us hate on tha Carter 3 but it was somehow even bigger than Carter 2. White Soccer mom’s still play that shyt, reminiscing about all the black dudes they were fukking/sucking to “lollipop” back in the day.

I agree about anything outside of that. Carter 3 was, in my mind, the tail end of his artistic peak.

Let that sink in. NONE.

Wayne has at least 15 tracks you like, right? Then that's an album. How bout 30?....that's two albums.

Now if you looking for a cohesive body of work....blame the people around him. Wayne just makes individual tracks and Mac Maine today and probably Baby in the past take tracks and make an album. Wayne said he doesn't know what tracks from his stash makes the album until it drops....then he has to learn the lyrics.

That’s exactly why people say he doesn’t have a classic. Classic album doesn’t have to be on some GKMC/Black Trash type concept album but it has to at least be some kind of cohesive album. That’s one big downfall in Weezys catalogue, probably the closest thing he has is C1. On the influence/straight up spitting side of things he has C1 or C2 in contention but they fall down in other criteria we usually have when talking about classics.
