We can argue Carter 1 wasn’t, as much of a revival it gave his career.
Carter II was HUGE, lauded by fans and casuals alike. shyt was inescapable. I wouldn’t call it perfect but it was definitely neck and neck with “Thug Motivation: 101” as albums that immediately put the culture in a stranglehold.
It wasn’t just the tapes that put him on the map, both Carter I/II increased his following on their own. The tapes kept people interested in between.
Many of us hate on tha Carter 3 but it was somehow even bigger than Carter 2. White Soccer mom’s still play that shyt, reminiscing about all the black dudes they were fukking/sucking to “lollipop” back in the day.
I agree about anything outside of that. Carter 3 was, in my mind, the tail end of his artistic peak.
