In Ucity I like going to Landmark and my boys always wanna go to mad mex. I just like FT for their drinks honestly not to worried about the scenary there.

Yeah I can agree with this as far as the difference between the city and club life. Too bad the "hood" crowd takes over and messes up certain spots. Keep that shyt at Palmers/Pinnacle or whatever them clubs are called now lol. Me and my boys though used to stay in Fusion but now it seems like a white club when I pass by. Haven't been in a hot minute

I used to DJ at Vault (It was the remodeled upscale upgrade to Fuzion)......I was heavily involved in terms of promotion and putting together events. Basically that was the spot where someone got stabbed and the hood crowd took over. On the Final night there was a shooting outside and someone beat the shyt out a of security guard. I remember towards the end it didn't even feel safe being there........and we didn't make a lot of money. That one year basically showed me that I'd never want to own a club. It looks glamorous but it's not as profitable as it seems and it's way too volatile.....one bad situation that you have no control over can destroy your money. But yeah it's now called Lit and it's just EDM now.

that's exactly what happened to Industry XIX. when it first opened you had to go through background checks and post your job title on their website just to get in a few months down the line they realized they couldn't rely on the bougie crowd to sustain business so they started letting dudes in who were rocking scuffed up sneakers and wrinkled t shirts

Walnut Room was another spot that tried to target to the bougie crowd and couldn't sustain it. bougie black folks don't really do clubs anymore, now it's "day parties"

It sucks that the Hood runs philly so much....Basically these spots need that "dope boy" money to survive but it's not the vibe anyone wants for a party....

I think with Walnut room the owner just wanted to go into a different direction.....

Any of you Philly dudes remember Industry XIX on 19th and Chestnut? that was my favorite club in Philly easily and it struck a nice balance of being good for young black professionals but at the same time not too bougie. Unfortunately they shut that shyt down because the owner wasn't paying his rent

but yeah, night life is pretty weak right now. some spots like Time, Barbary and Silk City are cool if you're white boy wasted but as far as lounges where you can just chill, enjoy some good music and a nice vibe there's definitely a void

I spin at Silk City......Silk City is always great place if you really want to dance and not stand around....One of my favorite places to spin.

Think that's a prob for folks in many sizable cities. Not every city, even if its 500K and up, is gonna have stuff that jumps out at you... but trust, if it is a city that 500K and up, there WILL be shyt to do, just gotta do a lil' more digging and exploration as you said. Now whether it's what these non-cultured a$$ niccas WANT to do is another story.

...because the small young urban professional crowd just doesn't go out every week and the "hood" crowd which is the majority of philly, ruins things quickly...

Yeah I think the problem is that. Alot of cats if they not doing some shyt that can be looked at as "ballin" and take pics for Instagram like they millionaires they "bored". Like Ive said I'm rarely "bored" but that's just because its stuff to do here besides clubbing but not everybody wants to do that because it don't fit their "brand" lol.

Nah the spots where he goes to in posh cities aint there but there is a hipster scene he could have found up North Philly. The thing is Wayne and Drake on a tourbus driving thru Philly you know damn well they ain't getting off that bus.

South Street and Center City be popping on the weekends. Probably too many black folks out there for their taste tho'
