Should Lil Wayne have signed with Jay-Z When he was Offered?

  • Hell Yeah!

  • Nah- Cash Money made him

  • Should have gone indie

Usher walked in like, "I need to hear this bullshyt..."

Doesn't Baby control all of Wayne's moves anyway? Wouldn't he still have been signed to Cash Money in some capacity anyway...or was he truly a free agent at one point?

Nah...it's not what you're doing, it's why...and imo Jay only wanted Wayne for a dig at baby. He wasn't interested in Wayne's development...wouldn't have been a good look for tuenchi....shyt, Jay tried lowballing him off top. He tried to fukk wit Wayne phychologically(his comp.) didn't even let him talk to Derek jeter and whoever else, sound like he tried to lil man him.

Add to that...what male hip hop artist has Jay been able to groom to success long standing...other than himself.

talembout "he probably offered him his masters & a 50/50 split".

:scusthov:

He's a legend

C3 dropped when he was 25

C3 was meh.

and I remember when 25 was old for a rapper.

the lowering of the bar in hip-hop continues.

I felt the same initially, but it's aged kinda well actually.

Im sure its way more to that deal....most likely only the advance
It's already been posted in this thread but it's being ignored. $175k to Wayne, but people are acting like he was a free agent. He wasn't. Def Jam was willing to put up the MILLIONS to buy him out of his CMR deal and the $175k was straight cash to him. It seems he felt regardless of how much they would be spending to get him, they'd have to come up with another large amount to him to make it worth it.

But I'm sure if offered the same exact deal right now he'd jump it

I heard about that too. The buy out for Wayne was too much for Hov so he said fukk it.

Like him or not, Wayne did a lot for the culture and put his soul into rap. He deserve to compensated fairly for it.

Birdman just need to give Wayne his freedom papers

Two of lil waynes teeth cost 175k

Foh Jay :camby:

yeah but was it 175k advance, and 70/30 on the back end??

I mean he didnt even say 175k for 1 year salary- wayne was not specific at all- The reason they still laugh about it is because jay Z laughing at Waynes lacc of business acumen and how many M's he missed out on because he didnt read the contract offer

Jay wouldn't have had to develop Weezy at that point, though. Pretty much just keep him focused and take his call to get shyt done.... think J. Cole. He damn sure wouldn't have been "lean Wayne". Not to mention if that was a little man move by Jay, that ain't shyt on trying to have me killed.

Lil' Wayne isn't articulate or cognizant enough to tell compelling stories, they all come out as half memories and vague recollections, with no nuances....Dude is burned out in the game, always been kind of a idiot, spoiled, sheltered type...I love a lot of his music, but this is the end for him, it only get worse from here.

you're actually dead on. im sure his stories wouldnt be any better than how he explained this "offer"

he gave us a #- 175k and did not mention (because he doesnt know/remember specifics)

thats like me asking an NFL player how much he signed for? "$50 MILLION".....ok...over how many years? How much is guaranteed? Are there any incentives? Theres too much to a record deal for it to ever be described as a one number, unless you a dumbass :yeshrug:
