I know exactly what the sickness is, centuries of white supremacy. And I know what the medicine is too, a sense of self and community. I'm tired of the excuses about why we can't have the latter.

Well, old world societies are collective. Its all about lineages. Notice how Nigerians, Indians, Chinese have no problem shacking together 12 to a house? Brehs stateside want to leave moma's house at 18, while Ling Ling is 29 at home.

That 10,000 is effectively 9 working adults chipping in $1,111 . Some people like Koreans are better at it than others. I think some Caribbeans do Susu (same thing but tradition from the continent).

These folks from 3rd world countries or countries where your are expected to only live home until you get married...think totally different.

But its all relative. I can take an american from a upper middle class give them 30 bucks and say go to the store and figure out how to feed 8 people for 3 days. That person would probably panic and say it couldn't be done.

I can give a poor person from rural america 30 dollars and they could feed 8 people for a week. They would take that 30 bucks and have them folks eating all types of meals for 5 to 7 days.

Ok not $10k, maybe $5k...$1k per person and build up over a couple years. The goal is to pool money and businesses can be started with less than $100k.

Brothas and sistas do it. The black investment group I was in did it we put aside like 500 a month each and built it up to like 30k.

The key is folks have to be vetted and able to put money in and aren't shady.

For example a mexican kat, I know was in a group with other mexicans. Here is where the problem was. One mexican dude put his cousin on. Who he knew was shady and couldn't be trusted. Dude cousin kept fronting and never would put in the needed amount. The group ended up kicking his ass out.

So some folks are always leary of this stuff cause you got shady folks who try to take advantage. Add on how we as american (aka capitalists) think....always looking for an opportunity to take advantage of the situation.
