He was put into what he refers to as "directors jail" after he made this straight to video movie, but he's bounced back in a big way with both TLAM and RA having done well at the box office. Both have sequels coming out.
I've not seen either but....to @
Mr. Somebody 's point, they both kinda look like the "specific types of films" that black directors are often warranted. I would love to see him get a shot at another big budget film...white directors certainly get numerous opportunities, and FF 1 and 2 didn't necessarily bomb (I mean, the first one did well enough for a sequel, so it's not like this dude is poison).
Far as Tyler Perry goes, honestly, I've never seen one of his movies....

I don't like the madea dress up act but I'm not necessarily against him. He can get his...I just want more of us to get ours.
