As long as you aren't following a team because of their success (past or current), no one is going to fukk with you for who you follow.

if more fans did follow a team based on their success, teams/owners would try harder to be successful

How many good teams have no following? Every fan base is full of casual fans that rep the team more once they're good.

true, but if the Bulls were afraid of losing fans to the Pacers, they'd probably be trying harder to get an extra piece or two to make them look like a favorite instead of being happy with a high seed and a few playoff wins. The Thunder might've kept Harden if they thought they'd lose a lot more bandwagon fans buying merchandise without him

raptors/bills/leafs/jays fan evne though they never have won ish, and I will never sell my soul to become a fan of any other teams
