The Source had an issue in 2002 or something where they officially went back & re rated albums that are now considered classic by many people but were either snubbed altogether (AEOM and album released before the mag was around) or they were given 4-4.5 mics in the initial review for whatever reason. there's a well known unwritten rule among the Source editors & staff that they wouldn't give out ANY 5 mics for a number of years. only a few albums snuck in.

Stillmatic was the first thing that popped into my head. I always felt like they gave that to him because Blueprint was 5 and he was in the middle of that Jigga beef so it was like they didn't wanna take sides so they just gave both albums 5 mics.

I would have liked to see Digable Planets' 2nd album, Blowout Comb on one of these lists. That shyt was a classic.
