I didn't. And those that did I don't agree with. Also, most here are not MCs. They shouldn't speak on their moves as fellow artists. If the music was compromised comment on that. And their G Unit album was decent and not at all compromised besides some forced features maybe.
Put Em in Their Place is a banger.
It wasn't as bad as people made it but nikkas wanted 50 to fall off because he was trying to bully their favorite rappers so Mobb suffered because of it

Man, I feel like the likability factor as it correlates to success is not there at all. There are SO MANY successful artists that are super unlikeable.

Also, I never found LB to be particularly unfriendly or not likable, although the Justus League as a whole had a bit of a reputation as being slightly elitist in the early 00's within the NC rap scene. But, they were always cool to me and most people I saw.

I'm not on Twitter so I don't know what they do or don't post on there

Rapsody is a nobody. 9th spent a decade trying to build her and got nowhere.
I swear if she was a man she'd get a lot less hate on here. She got a Grammy nomination and she's doing an album with Madlib, and just made a really dope album last year with zero 9th Wonder production or involvement.

She's not a super A-lister but calling her a nobody is wild. She has like a million monthly streams on Spotify. That's more than people like Styles P and the same as people like Raekwon and no one would ever call either of those 2 guys nobodies.

Dope beats, dope rhymes, shytty attitudes.

The whole Justus League movement should have been a thing from day 1 to the year 3000 but yeah....conscious rappers man :francis:

I still remember Phonte's blogs whining about the crowd not being hyped up and waiting for Wayne and em to come out.

Like breh....you expect a bunch of black folks in the heat during the summer outside to groove to Whatever You Say :why:

And I love the guys but good grief looking back, mofos were obtuse and not reading the room. There is a reason why you get labeled "underground" and "backpack". Because only a selective few will get it, while the rest are lost in the mainstream.

Get a grip.

I think they peaked in terms of success in 2005. They would have released some more fire albums tho

They were in the game too early and also too late. It's that simple. They were too late for Rawkus, and too early for the blog era.

They had a very solid internet following of real love and support, but there was no social media and no metrics to measure that kind of stuff back then. Their A&R at Atlantic was like "I know you guys have a lot of fans, but unfortunately there's no way for me to tell any of the higher ups how many there are, etc." Phonte talked about this before.

It's a real shame. One of the most talented groups of all time in any genre, and definitely will never get as many flowers as they should have. That was one of the most special times ever if you were on to their music when it was happening in real time.

9th was having an "Alchemist run" before that was even a thing, in the mid 00s
That's crazy af bro. I never thought about it like that, but yeah...you're kinda right. 9th did have a run of producer collab albums when no one was really doing that to extent they are now. Al obviously has done way more and with much bigger names, but 9th had all those multiple collab projects with Murs, Buckshot, Jean Grae, Skyzoo, etc.

He had one with Ness that never came out officially that I always thought was fire.

What other producer's underground in the 2000's were doing multiple full projects for people? :ohhh: Common and Kanye. Saigon and Just Blaze. I can't think of many others. Not a lot of one producer one artist full projects back then like there are now.

I'm also heavily biased bc he got me into producing with FL Studio back when...
I already had been using Cool Edit a bit but knowing that LB music was fully made with software was crazy at the time. It was so accessible, and a lot of folks were giving tutorials on how to copy him lol it's shameless but was a great way to learn some beat fundamentals

He still drops heat from time to time, but not like then

Yeah I like LB but they were nowhere close to Tribe and them. 9th kinda limited them with them fruity loop beats with them high ass snares. They were an of the moment ass group and that’s cool. I’ll put them in the same lane as like Group Home and Camp Lo and shyt
I disagree with the Group Home comparison. Premo’s beats on that album changed hip hop. LB weren’t as garbage as MCs compared to Group Home. That one dude in Group Home was super trash bag.

Man 9th has a fukkin album worth of songs with Conway the Machine and the 3 I've heard are all fukking fire. I wish they'd drop that but they probably never will.

I definitely don't like 9th's beats quite as much the past 5 years. Overall. But I'm still listening to anything he drops day one. Always one of my favorite producers. Even his less good stuff is still pretty dope to me.

That's an insane and frankly bad comparison. Group Home legit were bad rappers. Phonte is one of the most gifted and talented rappers of the past 20 years. He's got fukking bars for days, and he's a good singer. Phonte had Source Verse of the Month and Grammy nominations and the SOurce wanted to give them 5 mics.

Preem put Group Home on literally to keep them out of trouble, and admitted they could barely write raps. Especially Melachi. Melachi was actually mentally challenged bro.

Comparing LB to Group Home is insulting to LB.

listen to this Phonte verse from a year or two ago. Group Home could be 5x as dope and never write a verse like this.
