the 'unwritten rules' of baseball are utter joke to me.

the one that kills me is the one where after a certain lead its not 'kosher' to steal bases :mindblown:

Really? The one that blows your mind is "don't run up the score and embarrass the other team when they're getting destroyed?"

yes, because:

I first believe there is no such thing as running up the score when it comes to pro sports.

and

you can score a ton of runs in baseball in an inning. unlike time-based games like football, hockey, soccer or basketball, there is no clock to run out.

you dont steal a base down 0-7 in that 7th or 8th inning and then team goes back and scores 6,

you end up as that guy who was p*ssy thinking about 'embarassing' the other team too much, you embarass yourself.

if Im getting paid to steal bases and get bonuses for them, best believe Im stealing a base when the catcher is a corpse of jorge fukking posada out there.

dont give a shyt what the score is, its pro sports
man the fukk up and play the game youre paid to play to the end.

this is specific..

but what was larussa's reasoning behind hitting the pitcher 8th?

Sometimes the pitcher bats 8th so they can bat a speedy player 9th
It'll be almost like having 2 lead off men

Umps also don't tolerate 1/10th of the shyt refs. Can't argue balls and strikes. You get automatically thrown out. Basketball players, especially superstars get thrown a lot more rope when it comes to being able to bytch and moan.

the "unwritten rules" and "decorum" aspects of the game vary depending on where you are. You know how British people are viewed as prim and proper and regal and stiff (no homo) and then you have the image of the ugly Americans acting a fool? Well in baseball, Americans tend to view themselves as the regal, proper, perfect baseball players and then you get the Latin American ball players coming in all swagged out and turnt up. Same thing. There's no right or wrong way to conduct yourself emotionally. America just wants to believe there's a code to everything.

If people were paying attention to the WBC, that Dominican team was one of the most swagged out teams ever assembled in any sport. They gave zero fukks to the opponent.

When I said punishment, I was speaking about the lack of fines and suspensions. And by public perception, I was talking about the fans. There isnt any outcry whenever a player acts inappropriately.

thats is a stupid result of an 'unwritten rule', which is the point.

in lots of sports there are bonuses for reaching certain numbers in terms of stats. baseball is such a stat-driven sport anyway.

I'm a baseball purist and I tend to agree with this. Never understood the logic of beaning somebody because they chose to continue competing.

I mean, it makes sense- let's throw a 90+ mile baseball at a hitters head/body that can and will physically hurt him, potentially injuring him all because ...

he got the best of your team again in playing baseball while his team is up big

there's rarely any outcry when players fight other players. and if there is.. it's very shortlived.

baseball brawls.. hockey fights.. andre johnson putting the beats on finnegan.. i don't really follow bball but i remember lj vs zo.. childs and kobe..

i mean.. even artest who went into the stands.. still :mindblown: is now metta worldpeace, the lovable mental case.

you can't bring up the nba dress code and ask why baseball doesn't have one like one has anything to do with the other. that's like asking why nba coaches don't have to wear shorts and a jersey while coaching.

i get what you're saying.. but to stop stealing bases doesn't mean stop scoring. you can be up 20 runs and still be up at the plate trying to reach base. stealing bases is just an added fukk you while you're up.

it's sportsmanship.

like if a team is up 3 touchdowns with 2 minutes left and they get the ball back. you can be a dikk and throw the ball downfield if you want to. there are no rules against it.

but most likely, you'll run it up the middle 3 times and if you break one.. then :manny:

:shaq2: Melo lost sponsors and got blasted for his fight with the Knicks. This doesn't happen to Baseball players or NASCAR drivers when they fight.

:manny:

i don't really care what the sponsors do or don't do. it's their money. they can endorse whoever they want.

All I know is the split finger fastball, because basically, that's how you hold the ball when throwing the ball around.

Then you're doing it wrong.....this is how you normally hold a ball when simply throwing it...or how any one in the field would throw the ball to first or in from the outfield..basically the same way you would throw a 4 seam fastball.

...this is a split finger.

We are talking about fans too. Who do you think influenced the sponsors to pull Melo :lupe:

is your point that sponsors and fans target nba players because they're black and that baseball/hockey players get away with things because they're white?
