If you are contributing to the household and are saving money for an apartment or house or starting your own business I don't see the issue, also depends on the culture, this is common in latino, south asian families.

Stats can make a person complacent in their situation if they see nationwide they fall with a particular category.. Not considering those stats are a compilation of various people from all over the country.. They don't speak to each individual specific situation..
