I saw someone say the definition of being rich/wealthy is when you don't have to work anymore. I agree with that.
But there's a huge gap between being a paycheck away from homeless, and never having to work again. Plus even people living on retirement funds and wealth still have to stay within some kind of budget
I see what you are saying but I think you are grossly oversimplifying. Lot of people are living on the razor's edge financially for no reason.
You're right. Maybe I am oversimplifying because I don't get what the phrase actually means. Unless we're not worrying about getting paid, because we have enough money or assets to cover life, then we're still looking forward to that next check.
Yea, it's better to have 3-6 months of living expenses stacked than having nothing. No argument here. But even so, we still need those checks to keep coming as we don't want to touch that 3-6 months unless absolutely necessary.
I'm not trying to clown. I honestly just never got that statement, but I agree with stacking some money for a rainy day

Peace

They out here paying more money for an apartment than most people pay for mortgages.

because i know i make almost twice as much as her.
I rack up a lot of lil avoidable expenses (tickets, fast food runs, weed, etc), on top of my big ass car note, my unreasonably high car insurance, and other bills. That leaves my pockets empty with no room to save. It really comes down to discipline, how discipline are you to not make purchases you do not need to make, as well as being able to set aside some cash whenever you get paid that you absolutely do not touch. I'm coming up on a rack and a half next month so I will definitely start my savings with that cash. I'm tired of living paycheck to paycheck
