this is true, but i work with plenty of motherfukkers on that 'i need my check, cant wait til my check', not even worth 4 figures :heh: and they make enough to not be in that situation. like all you have to fukkin do is go about a month or two without spending money on bullshyt

i mean you saw that chart where half of millenials dont even have a thousand dollars. but id say about half of that, COULD if they wanted to
Because they create job and consumer insecurity. its by design.

I don’t care if you can only put away $50 a paycheck, put something aside..always pay yourself first. If you can’t do that, it means you are living above your means..Even if you live with moms, you should be able to put something aside…I work with people making $50k and up a year and many are running on fumes come the middle of the 2nd week after payday..This is unacceptable and if this is your lifestyle, it means you are irresponsible, especially if you are over the age of 25.

Some might say "I got bills, thats why I'm broke" ..To that I say, if you are coming up short by the end of the first week, somethings gotta go, cable, internet, dining out etc..nygga, something gotta go..The problem is people don't want to let go of what think everyone else has...nikka you can't afford 5 premium channels, cut dat shyt down to 1 or get rid of cable all together..I'm sick of people asking me for money, many of whom make more than me :pacspit:

I understand student loans is a big one, I'll give you nyggas a pass to a degree but if you debt free and check to check :pacspit: fuk ya....

Get yo fukn life 2getha b…Fuk wrong wit u?:what:

:comeon:...nikkas always running they mouths...wouldnt know the first meaning of struggle....:camby:

Most people don't even attempt to save or invest any of their income, and they try to live at or above their means.
If you're a single person who doesn't live in NYC/LA/DC/SJ and you make above 50k a year, you should not be living paycheck to paycheck.
There are people who live in the suburb I go to school in who make over 100k a year and are struggling from paycheck to paycheck, because they mortgage a 500k house, drive a brand-new Bimmer, have student loans, and spend frivolously.
Sadly, i have many friendS who live like this and they are making over $100K

One of the worst example is my homie who lives here in ATL. Per his girl he has $0 savings. Was talking to him about 401k once and his response was "Never had one". Owes over $100K in student loans and has never paid them so Credit is bad. He drives a Porsche now and rents an nice apt in a nice neighborhood.Sure you Gotta have your toys. Life is to be enjoyed. But if all the stuff you are splurging on is at the expense of other essentials...Makes me question things.

I try to tell him to make better decisions but he is set in his ways. One thing i'll give him is that he's very confident in his ability to hustle and will find a way to make money if he were to be without a job. Props to him. Wish i could live on the edge like that but I'm too paranoid for that lifestyle. At least he's frugal in everything else he does but he spends a lot of money on toys.

And the worst case is probably my other homeboy. Makes about $120K a year. Spends it all on women and partying to the point where he always needs to borrow money every couple of months. Sh!t is amazing to me. When yo hang with this guy at a club if you're not careful he'll make you spend $400 in a heartbeat. i had to tell homie I dont play them games. I work hard for mine. But where he fukks up is this: He doesnt pay his taxes either. He gets his whole check from his job and always says he'll file them at the end of the year and doesnt. Dude thinks the IRS plays around in this country. He's only been here a few years tho... He'll learn. If there is one person you dont fukk around with in the U.S.A. it's the I.R.S.

Not necessarily. Capitalism only works if there's an underclass so its gonna be like that for many people by design

I hear ya :ehh:but at the end of the day if you work hard enough and make good choices you can live an above average life in America:jawalrus:

I only know a handful of people living that hard life....and they all keep making bad choices :manny:

We all make bad choices especially when we are younger. But when people from disadvantaged backgrounds make a mistake its 10x more detrimental to their fututre

Me, myself and I
Always put something away, even if it's as small as $50 per check. Those smaller amounts add up over time and it's better than not putting anything away at all. I agree with always paying yourself first.

There are many ways to save money and cut costs. One way is following the 52 week money challenge. I usually do that in increments of $5+, along with "paying myself" a fixed amount of money per month.

We had a thread about this way back when it was first posted. I created a spreadsheet and shared it with the brehs on here.

The spreadsheet shows you how much you could save if you manipulate these numbers in the table. Instead of increments of $1 you can chose to do $3 or $5 and so on. It was pretty neat. A lot of the brehs dowbloaded it. I used and saved $3K from january to october
