Depression doesn’t give a fukk if you got money. And it’s directly related to how other people and society treats you. You can look right here and see the hate and disgust people have for her. But if she was 135 and skinny, they’d be begging for more of the same twerking and ass shaking. They’d be so sympathetic if Beyoncé cried one year but tell her to kill herself cause she cried. You watched your entire life go by as people shytted on you for being fat then they fall in love with your music but treat you the absolute same. yeah and? Her confidence isn’t justified. It’s one of thing if someone like Miles Davis or Floyd Mayweather is a cocky motherfukker. The former created 3 or 4 genres of jazz. The latter has one of the greatest records ever in boxing. Their arrogance might be annoying, but no one can say it isn’t backed by fact.
lizzo’s confidence, however, is built on a stack of lies and ultimately detrimental to society if people go around thinking they’re better than they are without accomplishing anything or thinking they’re cute despite resembling the hippos at the zoo. It’d be one thing if she was cocky because of her music. It’s entirely different if she thinks she’s sexy and shoves it in everyone’s face.
I hate being lied to and have no sympathy for folks who perpetuate lies to the point where it infects society and we can’t say anything about it in public because we’ll be shamed. It’s Orwellian. If lizzo was an isolated entity and didn’t push some fat is love narrative, I wouldn’t care, but this land whale is emblematic of unearned self esteem pervasive among western women.
