i don't think DMX is familiar with Banks' music. I mean he's more familiar with guys like The LOX, Nas, Jay-Z, LL Cool J, Canibus, who he's made music with. I'm a fan of Banks' music but let's be real here, he's another copy of them, he just has the punchlines that elevated himself to the elite level. Look at who X has worked with in the 90's, they are all in that elite level when it comes to lyricists. I'm sure Banks is also a fan of who he's made music with. X's era is completely different.

It didn’t seem like a slight but kind of an

“I feel he doesn’t belong on that tier you’re talking about”

until X started asking for memorable bars.

even if done playfully it could backfire if Banks responded on wax.

You gotta have a legitimate reason to bar up on a legend, I dunno that we heard that reason here.

Lots of old school cats had some pretty rough opinions of their contemporaries skills

as if Banks coming out of his cave to drop a subliminal is going to make a difference :mjlol:

this.

they're like a generation apart.

and in the grand scheme, what has Banks accomplished besides being 50's lil nikka and dropping some hot lines?

Banks has accomplished some memorable moments but not on the level as guys like DMX. Being apart of G-Unit stunted his growth, around the time they were beefing with everybody they alienated themselves. This is why he should've distanced himself a long time ago and did his thing on a solo level. Banks has made music with legends like The LOX & Eminem but that ain't good enough. He will always be known as the mixtape legend with dope punchlines. His album discography ain't strong enough to put him on the level as most. His mixtapes are just as good as most artist's albums but people might not care about that.

Maybe DMX said it because he doesnt really listen to Banks like that...but why didnt he just say that? He could have easily said that if that was the case. Instead he went the disrespectful route.

Name 4 Banks bars? Don't let Scoop represent everyone, lol...he couldn't think of 4 bars because he too probably isn't that familiar with Banks catalog...plus it's hard when u put people on the spot like that...but someone who really is a fan of bars and lyricism could have probably gave him 40 Banks bars. Banks is a better lyricist than DMX, which is the funniest part. I'm one of the people who thinks Banks is overrated, particularly on the internet...but trying to discredit his rhyming ability and skill? That doesnt even make sense

That’s a big red flag that a fellow emcee thinks you’re borderline wack if they start asking for memorable lines from you when you’re mentioned.

X heard his name and did a hard stop on the conversation the way a basketball fan would if you started naming all time great centers and someone threw Bill Wennington out there between Patrick Ewing and David Robinson

fukk outta here.

if banks put out a record to serve dmx.
DMX would have to respond because he precipitated the situation.
now i guess nikkaz. Gon get selctive memory about banks serve'n nikkaz.
like nikkaz got selective memory about dmx being a not good enough in the golden era.
through the styles war to finally the skill deficient main stream sales spike era.

DMX gotta battle.
if banks put out a diss and it goes with no response.
it makes dmx look even worse.

I couldn't recite a Lloyd Bank's bar if you put a pistol to my head.
Lyrical is one thing.
Saying something memorable or classic is a another.
Couldn't recite a Vado bar neither

All I know is something about Razors in the trapper keeper. Banks is talented, he just never grabbed me like that. He is lyrical tho.

And there is no doubt in my mind that if DMX got on a track with Lloyd Banks he'd wash him 10/10 fukking times.

In 2020 or in his prime? Because let's not kid ourselves, DMX has sounded terrible for over 10 years. The voice and intensity is what always pushed DMX into a top tier position...ironically he is questioning Banks lyricism tho, lol. Lyrically, lyrics wise, Banks would clean X's clock, I dont see how it's even a debate
