DMX acting suspect

There is a reason for why X said that

If banks not that good ...

Why would he reach out to banks to work with him

its just block-talk.

the internet is blowing it out of proportion cuz alot of dudes on the forums/social media aint used to this type of chit.

im sure DMX thinks banks is dope. it seems like he was just reactionary to scoop trying to place banks in rarified air.
people react like that all the time. theres plenty of rappers who i think highly of, but still chit on them if i see them being overrated, especially in a real-life convo where i dont have time to collect all my thoughts and hit "delete".

now if there was something extra there, cuz banks didnt come thru to collab, i wouldnt rule that out. but i would honestly react the same way if i saw somebody put banks in the mix with most of those names, and i used to like banks alot.

the net is just blowing this out of proportion.
banks knows what it is, but i dont blame him for milking the pity-party. hes responding accordingly while still being respectful. smart move on banks' part.

Right now my life movin to fast to stop and pray
See every now and then I smile just not today
In my hood they let the choppers spray
Somebody probably got shot today
My name done popped where nikkas surfboard
You ain't stoppin me dawg
Only time you left ya hood is on monopoly boards
You grimey as birds shyttin on the top of ya fords
You will, die by the gun if you ain't droppin ya sword
I got tattoos as well as lead marks
To me fukking is kinda like racin and I always get a head start
My opinion of a sweet dream is a dead NARC
Just yesterday guns is blastin with red darts
Beef, you a target
Cause when we come at yo ass, Aladdin won't be the only one the carpet
Man you wanna play wit a ringer?
I ain't a peoples person
I'll give my next door neighbor the finger (fukk you)
Even though I got the shyt in the stores
I'm like a nikka that borrow clothes
bytch, I'm tryin to get in ya draws
Man I'll dump a whole clip in ya mans braids
p*ssys love Nelly, he made it look cool to wear bandaids
I'm blowin on damn haze
All of a sudden I'm gassed, cause I'm on the radio and I can't wave
If you ain't up on thangs
Lloyd Banks is the name, G-Units the game
Now I know to keep low when the heat blow
I'll have nikkas post up on ya block like I'm shootin the free throw
Still get the green from P-dro, better known as Pedro
I'm ghetto like a patty & egg-roll
Yea they feinin to stick me, they don't know the ninas is wit me
Snuck in wit Christina and Brittney
You only spend time at the mall
On New Years eve a body drops around the same time as the ball (yea)
:unimpressed:the Clip in braid bar, and the monopoly bar were the only two really impressive lines on there. And even then they were not that grand.

if we talkin prime, this proves otherwise about having his clock cleaned. DMX would prolly hold his own. But his overall performance would outdo Lloyd imo

No question, performance wise nobody is winning against prime X...but bars wise not many are fukking with prime Banks. There's a reason all the battle rappers and spitters in general hold him in such high regard

I disagree.
But even if you wanna go that route, even in those examples you see that the momentum didn't carry.
And while I doubt a lot of people would know it, that's probably Banks best attribute. He maxed out the punchline lane and then became an even better wordsmith, out of necessity.
If it ever became a real thing between DMX and Banks, he would bar him the fukk out. And not just because he's washed, but because he would do the same to MOST other rappers.

not sure what you mean by the bolded.

dog, 95% of punchline rappers, are proficient at other styles of lyricism. banks aint doing nothing special. hes always been an excellent lyricist but i never put him in the top-tier, not even for his era.

prime DMX would spank banks in a battle, whether on-wax or in a cypher.

as far as the better lyricist debate goes, it could go either way. i'd say that banks is more consistent, but when X wants to get into that bag, he easily drops a better verse. it depends on how you judge it. i have no problem with someone saying that banks is the better lyricist.

Banks got a ton of those, that hit way harder in context and humor, not so much on paper.

Which is why he evolved, he stopped with so many punchlines, started fukking with more flows getting much more intricate with his raps and subject matter shifted a bit as well.

If you haven't really listened to Banks since HFM 2 and maybe even a little after that, he's a a different artist.

When nikkas call Banks "lazy" I kinda sit back and realize that while he doesn't have a high output, the shyt he does put it is so much more dense than that punchline shyt that put him on everyone's radar as a dope lyricist.

It's amazing this has blown up, this is literally a non issue.
Cmon fresh & @SunZoo this is Dmx commenting on banks. X said quote just 2 bars of banks saying something hot. That’s goin to be a story no matter if its before or after or during a quarantine. Unless y’all think banks ain’t about shyt. Then I could understand where y’all coming from. I never heard another volunteer their opinion in that matter about another spitter

I think maybe I wrote it or you read it wrong.

DMX can not fukk with Lloyd Banks, in a nutshell lol, in his absolute prime he would have kicked a hard verse, I have no doubt about that, his mic presence and cadence carry and he wasn't a bad lyricist himself either, but if we're talking word-smithing, it's not a contest.

You saying this because of Lloyd's Eminem connection :russ:

DMX in his prime is thrashing Lloyd Banks on a track 9 times outta 10. X done went toe to toe and even topped MCs like Nas, Jay Z, The Lox and Method Man on tracks and you claiming Lloyd Banks would wash him :russ:

I fukks with Banks but shyt like this is why dudes is saying the Coli overrates him.

Please, Banks bars as a collective are good at best. Nothing outstanding to where hes elite commpany. The lines yall quoting are not even that witty in the slightest:mjlol:

i fw banks, but this ovverating of him as a lyricist is crazy especially given the only bars that live up to the hype yall give him that I have seen on here, are the two I bolded in @old boy post.

im sure there are some rappers that hold in high regard. but theres some that prolly just respect him and thats all. But thats a topic for another discussion.
