X has always been lyrically garbage. It was always good songs and aggression/presence where he shined.

Cant name you one song where i thought cot damn the wordplay. Dude was literally a cat rat sat hat kinda rapper, really basic. He's in my top 15 though as an artist.
lol you need to sit this one out
prime x was lyrical.
his lyricism began to fall off around his 4th and 5th after he came back from his movie break..

but even then he still had some lyrical songs.

again, you have no idea what you are talkin about lol

I just want to point out you can't say DMX is lyrical and Tupac isnt.

Either they are both lyricist or they both are not.

I personally think that just because they are not doing verbal back flips doesn't mean their lyrics are not well thought out and deep, their word hits harder than 'metaphysical lyrical serial, slashing dna like a miracle' type raps.

DMX is lyrical and speaks about his pain in great detail, just keeps the flow regular and doesn't use too many metaphors or double entendres

Banks is lyrically punchline heavy and can flow his ass off, but rarely goes beneath the surface and has pretty typical rapper content

The funny thing is, DMX and Pac probably used bigger words than nikkas like Big L who they consider lyrical (I do too, btw. Amazing lyricist). shyt literally makes no sense. Plus X used compound syllables, had metaphors, told great stories. Like how is he not lyrical? lol. nikkas is nuts bro.

don’t tell me these Curtis stans in here are going 5150, as per usual
:leostare::stopitslime:

They had no idea what DMX was in 1998 when he came put. It was like a whole church revival of street music. He brought the east coast back to being grimey and had the whole world on smash. These Banks stans, who were coddled by Eminem and 50, still talk about one AVERAGE album that barely sold 2 million copies back in 2004. Banks DMX had 4 multiplatinim albums, without the help of anyone but some (then) unknowns at Def Jam.

X had the world on smash and had everyone barking.

Banks hopped on the Eminem wave and 50 wave and got one average album with poorly aged production. His album wasn't as good as Jadakiss "Kiss of Death"

But Banks stans have trouble memorizing quotables from their favorite artists.

So much hyperbole on both sides.

X was never lyrically garbage, but as I said, he maxed out at a certain point. It's just as ridiculous to say X was an ABC rapper as it is to say LLoyd Banks isn't a lyricist.

Anybody arguing for Banks being "bigger" at any point was NOT around when DMX made initial impact. Anybody denying that Banks is a wordsmith that is holding on to extended clips full of bars is either ignorant or got some kinda grudge.

X being big in the 90s is irrelevant to what the mid 2000s were like
