I get this vibe from him too whenever I watch his interviews and during the primaries. A lot of politicians are this way but he's way more transparent with his schtick.
Beto only lost to Cruz by 3 points, it wasn’t a landslide and it was a warning shot to the GOP that Texas is closer to flipping blue then they think. People underestimate just how many Californians are actually moving here.

You're talking about the heavily populated minority cities like Houston and Austin pushing the cost of living and job market into inflated rates making it impractical to live while the houses are poorly constructed. This also increases homelessness and drives the crime rate up while the police arrest homeless ppl for living on the streets.The problem with this is that Texas is rapidly filling up with people from Cali and New York who never had any guns in the first place and who don't care about that, which is why Beto is as close as he is right now in the first place.

This doesn't work because alot the conservatives live in the outskirts where there's more acres and buy land for dirt cheap. Then I may even throw in the fact that Texas has more sundown towns than any other state as well and that's not going anywhere.

Texas is a BIG azz state. If you can make the state a battleground, the GOP is fukked. Think about how big California is..and realize TX is about 110,000 square miles LARGER....with multiple huge population centers (DFW, San Antonio, Houston, Austin, El Paso etc). It costs $$$$$ to campaign in the state.
A purple Texas is like Democrats having to fight in NY or Cali. Democrats can win the Presidency without Texas but Republicans have zero path without Texas...Ohio, Florida etc., can't make up for losing Texas. Our Republicans make other states Republicans look like Democrats. Just moving to the center is MAJOR progress.
