The beat to Mastermind is waaay worse than The Cross. Listening to this 9th remix album I didn't even realize the Mastermind lyrics cause I barely listened to it cause of the original beat.

The Mastermind beat that 9th made was dope but I kinda dug the original cause it fit the theme more. Felt like some 80s DePalma score he was going for it.

Now the 9th remix of Warrior's Song :blessed:

Please...the beat wasnt as bad as half ya'll Jigga stans are making it out to be...remember Jay used the same recycled beat on Moment of Clarity.

The thing is, most of the other Black Album beats were good though, and even if they sound dated, they were good for that time. The best beats on God's Son were the 3 Alchemist ones and Get Down and Made You Look. The other ones were awful.

That's the whole reason those remix albums started. 9th Wonder hated the album so he remixed it.

He remixed Black Album too but not because he hated it. Just because he was on there and had pressure from people to remix it.

I would argue the 9th Wonder remix album started the perception about Nas' weak beat selection, before that it was more the direction of subject matter rather than the production (pre-Stillmatic). God Son was actually well reviewed at the time of its release for what it was.

It's actually genius if you think about it..

:lolbron:

hov prolly called him up for that moment of clarity beat thinking em had another renegade stashed away:pachaha:

em's beats are tailored to fit his own flow and rhyme pattern...there's a reason he killed hov on renegade, and it's not because he's a better rapper
